Tickets to the NFC Championship Game have been a big talking point this week as 49ers fans try to infiltrate SoFi Stadium and outnumber Rams fans the way they did in Week 18. The prices of those tickets have also been a point of contention, considering how expensive even the cheapest seats are.

What many aren’t talking about is the price of parking at SoFi Stadium. According to Akash Markazi, on-site parking passes are north of $300. That’s still about half the price of the cheapest game ticket, but $300 just to park at the stadium is outrageous.

It’s partly because the Super Bowl is being played at SoFi Stadium, and the NFL is already taking up spots in preparation for the big game. Remember, this is the first time ever that a team is hosting the conference title game at the same stadium as the Super Bowl.

Even if you go off-site, parking tickets are just as insane. To park at a nearby high school, you’ll pay $175. Homeowners are opening their driveways up for parking, too, and charging $300.

Given the limited space for fans to park, one ticket broker believes parking passes might be more expensive than the cheapest ticket to the game by Sunday.

Right now, the cheapest ticket to get into the game on StubHub is $599. You’ll have to tack on another $168 in service fees per ticket, bringing the cost up to $767 just for one ticket to the game.

With the cost of parking, one person going to Rams-49ers will cost nearly $1,000, if not more.

Apparently that’s the price you pay to see only the second postseason matchup ever between these two division rivals.

    It's all about the money.

Agree. I think it’s Chiefs in the AFC and Rams in the NFC. Just can’t see Jimmy GQ advancing against the Rams d. But they have beaten them 6 straight times!!! Which is crazy.

49er's have a crazy good defense and some special players on their offense. It's not just about the QB's.
I bet on the Bolts in the first Bronco's game because of how much better our QB is than theirs - didn't work out as I expected.

Parking is where the money is, though, can you imagine what they pull in in parking alone?

Boltjolt won’t like this article on Melvin Ingram.

The Chargers' Uchenna Nwosu is "hyped" to see former teammate and mentor Melvin Ingram III get the chance to reach the Super Bowl with Kansas City.

The Chargers beat the Bengals 41-22 in Week 13; the Bengals followed that up losing the next week to the 49ers 26-23. Both losses were in Cincinnati and the Bengals fell to 7-6. They looked like a team that was still finding its way, not quite ready for prime time. They certainly didn't look like a team that was going to be in the AFC Championship Game. But they rallied to win three straight, culminating in the Week 17 over the Chiefs. (Their back ups lost their final, meaningless game.)

The Chargers got some help from the Bengals in their victory in Cincinnati. In the opening drive, Burrow threw a dime to Ja'Marr Chase, who had a step or two on Michael Davis. It looked like a TD. The ball hit Chase in the hands in stride, but Chase bobbled it and it ended up in the hands of Davis for an INT. Later, after the Bengals had come back and erased the Chargers' big lead, Joe Mixon fumbled the ball into the path of Tevaughn Campbell, who scooped it up and scored. A replay showed that a Chargers DL (Covington?) got his hand on the ball right after Mixon took it from Burrow, and that apparently knocked it loose. Later, Chris Harris Jr. intercepted Burrow in the end zone as the Bengals attempted to come back again. That effectively sealed the victory for the Chargers.

If the Bengals and 49ers advance today, it will be the third time these two teams have faced each other in the Super Bowl. The 49ers won the two earlier games. But it won't be the first time the same two teams have played in the Super Bowl three times. The Cowboys and Steelers have already done it.

The NFL played 54 Super Bowls and never did a team play a SB in it's home stadium. Now, it may happen in back to back seasons, if the Rams advance.

Before the Bucs played in the SB in their home stadium last season, a team had played in a Super Bowl in its home region twice. The first was the Rams in SB XIV in 1980 when it was played at the Rose Bowl. The Rams' home stadium that season was the LA Memorial Coliseum. (The Rams moved to Anaheim Stadium the following season.) The Rams lost that SB to the Steelers 31-19. That was the season the Chargers won their first division title and were in the NFL playoffs for the first time. The Chargers had crushed the Steelers in the regular season and had home field advantage for the playoffs, but the Houston Oilers (now the Tenn Titans) inexplicably knocked them out in the first round.

The second time a team had a home region but not home field advantage was in SB XIX in 1985 when the 49ers beat the Dolphins 38-16 at Stanford Stadium, just a few miles south down the Peninsula from the Niners' home, Candlestick Park.

SoFi hosting the NFC Championship Game and the Super Bowl in the same season is a first. No stadium has ever hosted a conference championship game and the SB in the same season. Can you imagine having homefield advantage for a conference championship and the Super Bowl? The Rams had better win it all.

The Rams spent a shitload of money and draft picks to be right where they are today.

Can you imagine what it feel like for the Rams and their fans if they lose in their home stadium to the 49ers again, and the Niners return two weeks later to play the Super Bowl in the Rams' house? Don't be surprised if 49ers fans outnumber Rams fans again today. The Niners have a strong fan base, the result of Joe Montana, Bill Walsh, Jerry Rice, Eddie DeBartolo and all those Super Bowl wins. And flights between SF and LA are cheap and easy to find.

Can you imagine if the Chargers had a little better coaching and were hosting the AFC Championship Game today? What would happen if two teams who play in the same stadium are hosting a Championship Game? Does one of them get moved? That doesn't seem fair. Do they play one of the games on Saturday? It could happen next season - the Rams and Chargers both hosting playoff and/or conference championship games.
