It puts him squarely at the top of the class. And with that comes painful memories of Ben and Eli, generous calls and media live that influences everything.
Sounds like your expecting the usual Charger disappointment for Herbert's career being magnified by someone else success.

Beg to differ. In Staley's system, each player has to possess the capability to whip their man one-on-one, consistently. You cannot make that statement about the defensive line as the only EDGE was consistently beating his man with regularity was Bosa, and then Jones.

Sorry, but.... there was not near enough talent on DL..... we were worst defense in NFL against run, on 3rd downs, in 4th quarter, and in scoring for a reason.... we earned it..... Herbie playing some nearly perfect games are the only reason we won

Watch a good defensive line play like 49ers, Bills, TB, Ravens, PIT, RAMS, etc..... then watch chargers, who get easily shoved around, pushed back and fail to tackle runners or pressure QB's..... wanting those guys back is about knowing how horrible the depth is beyond those mediocre guys you mentioned....Only Bosa is a great player.....

a couple of years ago, the 49ers had 5 first round draft choices on their DL......Chargers have ONLY ONE..... that is a huge difference....

Chargers have 2 1st round picks, a second and third on the DL

                  Just retire, Tommy.

Still kicking myself for not betting the Bengals ML yesterday (+200) and felt strong about the 49ers covering the spread as well. Dammit!

With only Bosa, and to a lesser extent, Jones, the Chargers don't possess the talent to run Staley's scheme in Year One. Had Nwosu played the way he did in the final Raider game, ALL SEASON, we would likely see the merits of Staley's scheme.

In sum, Cut Staley some slack, and become a louder vocal opposition to Telesco, to what he has done for the roster in the later rounds, where football teams are made. That dude is the issue, not Staley.

                        i hope so.

Rams win puts pressure on the Spanos to be more competitive. It places Dean out of his comfort zone.

Anyone notice that Matt Stafford's numbers are already besting Jimmy G's entire game output from last night?
