It wasn't his back last year, it was "core muscle surgery". I know he battled a groin issue too, but at some point you just gotta move on.

I've brought this up a few times over the years. I spent so much time on the ol' CMB defending his play. Folks often don't realize how valuable being simply "serviceable" is. That is until you have a continuous line of burning trash piles occupying those same positions.

I know from a market perspective it seems we got a deal here but I hate spending big money on corners. I know we have to and when added to everything else it makes sense it just irks me. That said I welcome JC to the Chargers and love what this will do for Asante who I really like.

It’s easier to find a plug & play RT in the draft than it is to find a plug & play CB in the draft. CBs always take longer to develop.

Now, I’m not at all confident in Telesco’s O line draft skills for obvious reasons (only 1 out of like 29 selections were not busts) but I’m hoping he can go for two for two with back to back good OL selections after picking Slater last draft.

Telesco / Staley & co have had 1 draft together. Their OL picks were Slater and Jaimes. Their FA OL choices were Linsley, Feiler and Aboushi.

This is why I had hope for this offseason. You can add McKitty, Palmer, Niemann to last years draft class. (If Niemann is a four year core special teamer - thats value). Even Amen O for special teams

If he does the same with free agency and the draft this year - Chargers will be much improved.
