IMO, the job last year was remarkable on offensive line. The RT bookend at @17 would complete the rebuild, along with the return of RG Oday Aboushi. Then the Chargers can salt games away with an effective running game and bleed a clock dry in the 4th Quarter.

The 2022 defensive front seven and secondary rebuild is pretty damned impressive from where I'm sitting.

Those wacky Broncs traded away Shelby Harris and did pretty well in filling that hole rather quickly. Still, the NFL calendar hasn't begun, but Tom Telesco is the Executive of the Year candidate over George Paton RN.

I was saying this in another thread-- No urgency to draft a CB at #17, with J.C. Jackson signed. And no urgency to draft a DT at that spot, with Day-Joseph and Austin Johnson already brought in to shore up the hemorrhaging in Run Defense. With Mike Williams re-signed, there's likewise no urgency to spend the biggest piece of draft capital they have on a wideout. The trade for Khalil Mack nearly eliminates the need to draft an Edge Rusher, certainly not at #17.

So as far as needs go, Right Tackle is there at the front of the list for the Bolts. It's also reasonable to believe that more than one qualified candidate will be on the board when the time comes for the Chargers to make their 1st round pick.

So I tend to think the pick will be a RT, too, unless a ridiculous talent takes a Derwin James-like drop. I think that possibility exists with a receiver, a guy with the speed to blow the back end off of defenses.

I think it's Penning in round 1...but...if not OT...another possibility is to package our 3rd rounder with a 5th and/or 6th rounder to move up into the end of round 2 and nab someone like Lucas or Raimann...

I think Penning is probably gone by 17. More and more I'm wondering if we don't grab a true speed threat at WR like Jameson Williams or Chris Olave. Will make it easier to move on from Keenan Allen in a year or two if need be for cap purposes.
