the issue with online gambling is that your average joe who would never throw around a lot of money in a casino can sincerely lose a lot money gambling online. a friend of mine just completely fucked herself with online gambling. she would never set foot in a casino.

My favorite piece of government hypocrisy! They allow people to lose their pants at a casino or online gambling but when it comes to thing that can actually make you wealthy like unregistered securities, margin trading etc… you have to go through a rigorous test and or show you have over 200k income or a net worth over 1million not including your home. This is all done in a “protect the investor” mentality but in reality it’s just to protect the big money investors from normal people buying the truly lucrative investments.

I work in this space and it’s so frustrating watching the financial system be so blatantly rigged and hypocritical. I guess the rich have always wanted to have a moat and in my opinion that’s what the fed is under the guise of protecting the people.

Yeah and funnily enough, the vastly more socialist countries in Europe don’t have this same regulation. Everyone in the US love their freedom and so do I, but there are some freedoms that are taken away from us for no good reason other than greed.

Addiction is a disease. Alcoholism is a disease. Obsessive gambling is an addiction disease like alcoholism. We make certain classes of drugs because we know the harm addiction to them can cause.

Lets be aware that any mention of the word "Government" has the potential to lead to political discussions. And we dont do those here. Im not sure when using that term if we are calling out one side or another? Im just clueless regarding this topic to be honest. So im not attacking. Just wanting to watch this thread to make sure it isnt a left vs right thing.

Fair enough, I don’t think I specifically was going that direction but I’ll leave government hypocrisy out of my WOYM posts in the future. Just know I think all governments are corrupt not just left or right ones, so I’m balanced in my disdain.

I got my first modern gamin PC recently. Running Wii games in 4K 60Hz is great. Xbox gamepass ultimate is really cool. I have switch PS5 and Xbox Series. I been doing lots of gaming on all of them
