Then how do you explain all the clutch throws to MW in last years Raiders game?

If you’re afraid to throw it because KA is out, I don’t think running it on 1st and 2nd down so you have 3rd and long is wise.

4th ranked offense in 2021 in the league and every week casual football fans excoriate Lombardi. Yawn.

Damn straight! Now, if we can only figure out how to get into the playoffs…

I too want to kill the raiders and stomp on their babies figuratively.
but I also like that we didn't feel the need to, to win.
Playing it conservatively is a bigger "fuck you" to your opponent sometimes.

IMO, watching Derek Carr fumble under duress on 3rd down and then again on 4th down with the game on the line was outstanding, AND NOBODY is talking about that defensive feat. Because on their fantasy football roster, they started Mike Williams, I guess....

Did you see a playoff caliber defense yesterday? Yes or no, old friend. We've been doing this now for 20 years, and this is like the 2006 Chargers defense with the Steve Foley part being played by Khalil Mack.

I have capacity for abstract thought. Nearly 45 years of watching Charger football has honed it.

Davante Adams had put up 116 yards in the 3rd quarter. The rest of the Raider offense had 31 yards for the entire first half.

You make an excellent and valid point, Bearded. Allen was surely a massive part of the offensive game plan. Losing him for basically three quarters messes that up. Also he is a team leader. Before the nellys say a good OC doesn't plan solely around one player, that is of course true. But it ignores reality and the human effect of your team leader going down. This is not a video game. Actual people playing out there. Besides, you don't think Raiders losing Adams would impact that offense when everyone was counting on him?

Lombardi is too conservative yet he dialed up a pass from his own goal line that McKitty dropped. He's too conservative and doesn't rely on Herbert enough but he called three consecutive (herbert uncharacteristically missed wide open targets in his reads the first two times) on the Raider goal line. Also, if he didn't run the ball the nellys would say we drafted Zion and Spiller and signed Michel and we don't use them.

Lastly, first game of the year. I saw early that Lombardi was testing the ability of the right side of the line to run block. At first it was not good. It got better. Michel's game clincher run was behind Zion. So he is tinkering. They did not get to do that in preseason as much with starters.

Enjoy an opening game divisional win over a hated rival.
