If Herbert sits and Chase plays, the defense is going to have to play lights out. JCJ's status is also up in the air though. The prospect of Linsley not playing too, with Daniel behind center, does not present a pretty picture. Chase did have that one long run in the preseason. He's a few weeks shy of 36. He's listed at 6 foot, but I don't know if he's that. His weight is listed as 218, and that is believable when you look at him. He's very thick. Is his conditioning up to snuff?
Chase has been in the league since 2010 and has been a backup his entire career. He's played in 71 games but only has five starts. His record as a starter is 2-3. His career completion percentage is 68.2. He has thrown 8 career TD passes to 7 INTs. His career passer rating is 85.
His last start was when he was with the Bears in 2019, v the Raids in Oakland. He lost that game 21-24, throwing 2 TD passes and 2 INTs for 231 yds and a 73.3% completion rate and an 89.7 rating. He was sacked 4 times. Highlights of that game below.
The Jags' D has snagged 5 INTs in two games, tied for the league lead with Buffalo and Pitt. They are 2nd in total takeaways with 6.
ADDENDUM: If you watched these highlights, it's not pretty. Daniel had a third INT wiped out by a roughing the passer penalty. Two of the Bears' scores came on very short fields, one a botched play by Carr set up the Bears deep in Raider territory, another set up by a Bears' punt return deep into Raiders territory.
