    The trade offers were probably for low-round, low-value draft picks, and Tillery was more valuable to the Chargers as a depth piece. After the trade deadline, the Chargers lost Austin Johnson and they had to fill that hole. By all accounts Tillery, believing that he should ascend to the starting role but the coaches thinking differently, became difficult and started to become a locker room cancer. That's when they decided to waive him.

      Couple that with not getting a WR before the deadline and you just shake your head in exasperation over the Telesco/ Spanos malpractice. [/QUO

      What they might have been offering was at best a 7th round pick - perhaps, conditional;
      or the we'll trade our trash for your's deal.

      Teams probably look hard at guys whose 5th year option was declined, hoping to give up essentially zip;
      the thought being that they might get more out of these players in a 'better' situation.
      A 7th is more than we ended up with. I didnt expect to get much for him. Id have taken a 6th and then you get a little cap relief. Hopefully someone claims him and takes on the 2.02 mil. That really isnt that much.

        Why is that? He didn't pout and skip practice until after he was told he wasn't going to become the starter last week, well after the trade deadline.

          When he was drafted I recall his profile indicating his head might not be into football because he had “cerebral” interests beyond the sport.

              from Tillery's perspective, not that much of a surprise.... he's a first rounder, gets pressure on the QB, has the measurables, and we have a hole, and.... he's got a problem.... he doesn't offer much against the run, and....

              neither does his former/fellow Golden Domer Drue, as Tranquill doesn't offer much against the run, and is basically a sub pkg/rotational player that makes somewhat infrequent splash plays, that for some reason plays 100 percent of the snaps on D, and....

              sort of a slap in the face when the HC tells you, you need to compete against some ps guys, and is the same HC that told Jamaree to have a seat while the likes of Storm and Pips competed for a starting tackle spot in his lieu, and despite Salyer's accolades as an SEC starting stud LT, and as opposed to the aforementioned Division II player, and the other from the USFL.

              Tillery led the nation in pressures, or was right there, in college, and has had some success as a pro, something that the neither of Fehoko or Gaziano or fill in the blank has had....

              he's basically a pretty solid NFL sub pkg/rotational DT that can play some (3-4) end if need be, and was a valuable part of our rotation, given who we have on board.

              hopefully the decision was all for the best, and for all included, and that Jerry will land on his feet somewhere

              ....was suspended for the Fiesta Bowl for violating team rules.
              again he had issues, shown by television cameras to be kicking and stepping on players in the team's loss to USC.
              and which begs the question.... what did he do now ?? and if he didn't do it, was he thinking about doing it ??

                  What you do in college gets your foot in the door to the NFL. Some get paid more to begin their careers but what you do in the NFL is what matters,.no matter how you got there. Via top draft pick or UDFA.

                  College is the minor leagues. The AA ball then to the fallen European league and XFL/today's USFL AAA ball.

                  Tillery is shit against the run. Yes he offered some inside pass rush pressure but that's it. Not an every down player but wants to be. He was more valuable in situations and he don't see it that way.

                    All I know is they’re singing in the locker room the day his release is announced. Coincidence? Let’s see how the team, big 7 point dog, plays this Sunday.

                      not sure who claims Jerry, and.... will surmise that he doesn't get past Baltimore (closer to NY than not, for him), and.... on the other hand,

                      these players got past us in lieu of Tillery....

                      WR Deebo Samuel
                      OG Dalton Risner
                      OG Elgton Jenkins
                      OC Erik McCoy
                      WR AJ Brown

                      another example of why you draft the player and not for need/position.... rule No. 1 in the draft: do not bust.

                        disagree with the Tranquill part. He plays the run very well inside

                          mmmm.... haven't seen that, and.... if so, how do we explain that we have the most yards before contact, and the most yards after contact.... given up against the run ??
