Here's what the Chargers' roster looks like now. I'd like to see them use their remaining cap space on a starting safety to pair with Jammer (JJIII?), a backup offensive lineman, and Van Noy. Then go TE-Edge-WR in the draft. They also need DL backups.
They still have 30 players to add (including draft picks) to get to the 90-man camp roster.
Active Roster (60)
Offense (28):
Quarterback (2): Justin Herbert, Easton Stick
Running back (4): Austin Ekeler, Joshua Kelley, Isaiah Spiller, Larry Rountree
Fullback (1): Zander Horvath
Offensive line (11): T Rashawn Slater, G/T Jamaree Salyer, C Corey Linsley, G Zion Johnson, T Trey Pipkins, G Brenden Jaimes, T Foster Sarell, T Andrew Trainer, C Isaac Weaver, G Zack Bailey, T Austen Pleasants
Wide receiver (5): Keenan Allen, Mike Williams, Joshua Palmer, Keelan Doss, John Hightower
Tight end (5): Gerald Everett, Donald Parham Jr., Tre' McKitty, Stone Smartt, Hunter Kampmoyer
Defense (28):
Defensive line (6): NT Austin Johnson, Sebastian Joseph-Day, Morgan Fox, Otito Ogbonnia, Christopher Hinton, David Moa
Edge rusher (5): Joey Bosa, Khalil Mack, Chris Rumph II, Ty Shelby, Carlo Kemp
Linebacker (6): Eric Kendricks, Kenneth Murray, Amen Ogbongbemiga, Nick Niemann, Damon Lloyd, Tyreek Maddox-Williams
Cornerback (6): J.C. Jackson, Asante Samuel Jr., Michael Davis, Ja'Sir Taylor, Deane Leonard, Michael Jacquet
Safety (5): Derwin James, Alohi Gilman, JT Woods, Raheem Layne, Mark Webb
They declined to tender him at $2.6M. They might be working to resign him similar to what they did with Parham.
I hope so, but it sounds like he's definitely looking elsewhere for now. And, from his perspective, he's been with the Chargers for three seasons and hasn't been a full-timer on the 53-man roster yet. It may be that he thinks he'll have a better opportunity elsewhere.
He was a key part of #1 lowest punt return yardage allowed. Actually a big deal.
We had low return yardage because he kicked high and short. His net average was 17th in the league. He was 16th in touchbacks and 11th in kicks inside the 20. Not bad, just ordinary.
I agree that he was over used. But just because we don’t want him to catch 100 next year doesn’t mean he wouldn’t be a great piece of the equation catching 50. In fact, if Moore gets it downfield more, his 50 catches could be more productive.
he’s worth the 6.25M we’re going to pay him
I would give him a 3-year extension at $7.5M, which is more than the non--tagged RBs have received, but a lot less than he wants.
The void on this team at RB is a bigger, short-yardage specialist - a complement back. This is the only weakness that our RBs have. They aren't really terrible, just not good enough. A short-yardage specialist shouldn't require a 1st round pick or a big contract. It requires a GM who isn't a blind squirrel. People are getting bigger all the time, so I don't think a plethora of big backs went extinct.

Charbonet from ucla is the correct answer…

Carter was drunk & left the scene.... Southern cover up.
think Ek is coming back, but no extension.... will play out contract.
Hopkins likely beats out Dicker in camp....
we need to sign a QB2, but won't....
very much need to sign a FA RB, and.... sooner than later (see Sony Michel from last season)
looking like Bryce might get replaced in the draft.... Clark Phillips ?? day two/round three ??
Van Noy gets re signed,
Interesting post! Part conspiracy theory and part prediction…I hope you’re right about ekeler playing out his contract, me I’m afraid he’s played his last game as a charger. I also hope you’re wrong about dicker losing out to Hopkins…

I’m not on twitter, do all the teams have ex players talking crap about their former team? Or is this unique to the Chargers?
