The Chargers were not close to winning a Super Bowl. They need help where they can get it

JK Scott should not be going through training camp without competition - and if he does, thats a bad job by the organization. Some team will sign Araiza . Why not the Chargers. And I saw JK SCott kick - he was better than others but why not improve the roster for the league minimum
He's a FA from San Diego (Rancho Benardo) that can essentially have his pick of team to try out.
staying in SoCa might appeal to him.
I say go for it, for competition sake.

I get there are true Hall of Famers

But so often, its the local beat writer pimping up a dude they covered. It truly has become the Hall of Very Good. I mean, they have video presentations and powerpoints that help present a candidate. And the guy that presented Manning was the Indy beat writer . So you hire some power point guru and give a good speech and that sways the other jerks in a circle in the room and like "wow, I dodn't know, he is a hall of famer."

The best hall of fame, and I get that the NFL cannot do this - but the best Hall of Fame is the LPGA Hall of Fame.
        (rant over)

And Leslie O'Neal was a helluva player but like you said, played in a smaller market, not with Parcells, probably some bad teams. Not that Taylor wasn't great - he was a dominant player
Leslie wasn't much bigger than Taylor and he was being used as a 3-4 defensive end...had the chargers given him the role that Taylor got in New York it would have been interesting to see how much quicker his numbers would have piled up early in his rookie season, the OLBs we had at that time were not getting it done at the rate that Leslie was from inside position...

They also have a new OL Coach - Brendan Nugent. He was the OL Coach with the Saints from 2015 t0 2021. As I recall, the Saints had some good OL's and a darn good running game.

I'll say this...I'm instantly suspicious when some scurrilous allegation comes out on draft day, or the day before...remember how Laremy Tunsil's draft stock plunged when a vindictive family member posted that pic of him in the gas mask bhong?

If anything, people are trying to overexplain, and assigning myriad underlying factors.

Just yesterday, there was an online take that Herbert has been getting a free pass on this loss. LOL.

I am done with it, and quite happy to do so.
I get what you're saying, but the bolded above underscores my point; the Jags coaches took advantage of the MD injury situation, and our coaches did not have the ability to counter. Our coaching needed to be better - to (at least) mitigate some of the fall off from starter to backup. They did not, and the team fell apart.

Good point. We need to be able to adjust on D. Our O also needed to put up more points vs. the Jags. It wasn't just the Vato injury, though that was a part of our collapse...

                        We were helpless.

                        JCJ injury.
                        Several green DBs.
                        Bosa hurt and whining.
Vato's injury was the tipping point.

There's the dream of Spanos selling, or Staley being gone.
                        Then there's the football reality.
