He either plays centerfield seeing things in front of him like Ed Reed or lives at the LOS w/aggressive hands on receiver. And the occasional blitz.

The Chargers are stuck with Derwin due to the contract they gave him last year. Maybe the thing to do is bench him for a game, make him inactive next week against the Packers. Maybe that will be a wake up call for him. I don't know.

So I'm right about Derwin but not about Keenan? Got it.

Again ALWAYS get rid of guys a tad early instead of too late. May be wrong a few times but it will work out in the long run.

Match Derwin up with a real, solid,DC and he will flourish.

Derwin was covering underneath, but where was the deep safety help on that play?

Gilman got caught looking in the backfield and was late picking up the crosser

EDIT - or else Gilman was expecting James to man the deep half of his (Derwin's) side of the field but Derwin erroneously jumped the up route . . . . . . .

Regardless - 4 receivers, 8 defenders in coverage, and the guy is open by at least 5 YARDS . . . . . . . . how can that happen?

maybe the problem is both Derwin and Gilman play similar styles. Both are better in the box safties than cover guys, so Chargers dont have that deep ball hawking cover safety.

The Bolts knew Gilman was a better strong safety when they drafted him...then they tried to turn him into a FS...and Gilman just doesn't have the speed to cover those fast wideouts deep...Bolts need not only a good CB, but a good FS in the next draft...in fact, they need TWO corners and TWO free safeties...sigh...
