They deserve credit for all the losing we've experienced but also any success too.
If we win a superbowl, they deserve credit for hiring Staley, extending Telesco, green-lighting the drafting of every first round pick including Herbert.
can't be hypocritical about a collective achievement.

They also were very involved in the SD community through charities which I appreciate as a native SD resident. The relocation I've made peace with stand by my position that outside of egregious ethical violations, I'll never blame a business man for making business decisions, no matter how much it hurts my fanhood.

The Spanos also don't say things publicly that embarrass me, unlike a lot of other owners. No DUIs or controversy.
no selling their souls for Tyreeks Hills.

They may not know shit about actual football but they present professionally. And I appreciate their ability to build and rebuild good competative teams while being relative outsiders to the traditional NFL families like the steelers, giants, Chiefs etc. I can't imagine that was easy. They also don't have the cash flow these others teams do, I wish they did but that's another hurdle they've had to over come.

Never thought I'd post a dedefense of them, but they deserve credit for the positives imo, it's hypocritical to conveniently, attribute the negatives.

LFG Spanos, we're in this together for better or worse.

I'll give them credit for staying out of the police report and not being complete POS's like other owners (Daniel Snyder anyone?), and not making ridiculously moronic moves (Deshaun Watson contract). That's about it for me . . . . . . . . . . . I guess it can always be worse

This is precisely how to successfully navigate being a fan of the Chargers. It could be worse.

then a few fans will have to admit that the Spanos made enough right moves to be Champions

Or it'll just be all Herbert and dumb fucking luck we picked him. Haha
If we win it will be because our stars stay healthy and play like stars, Staley & co turn the corner as coaches, we get a bit of luck and Herbert really is that guy.

I stand by my comment about hte SPani and their (lack of) football knowledge.

The only thing lower is their business acumen. They couldn't have sold water to the people of Death Valley a few weeks ago when it was 125 degrees

True...say what u want about the Spani, but at least they have class enough to keep personnel negotiations confidential, unlike SOME owners...
            (And players...)

So do the Spanos family get any credit at all in that scenario?
or just a complete accident like winning the lottery?

              Haha

              Serious question.

If we do at least GET to the SB, I will give the Spani credit for a sizeable part of it. Our problems over the years, in no particular order, seem to have been:

                1. Poor choices at HC (especially MM and Lynn)
                2. Injuries
                3. Inexplicable blunders by players in key games
                4. Poor drafting (up until the past two years or so)
                5. Poor choice at OC with Lombo

#1 and #4 are the responsibility, at least in part, of the Spani. They were in on the decisions made.

Yes because they will turn out to have been right about hiring Staley.

                  most will be forgiven

I enjoy the wins. If we lose one, I'm ready for a W next time. Overcoming things is what competitive sports is all about.
The 2023 Chargers are as good as any team in the NFL this year. Let's Rock!.

                      Hope always springs eternal...

So you are saying they have a chance...

I am bullish on this team - I think they can be pretty darn good

They have a chance of winning the SB.
As we stand today, the Chargers are a top 3 offense, top 5 defense and special teams. Or better.
We can say "If this and If that" will change things and it may. But that's an "If".
I'll go with what we are. Right now.

That's a very high ranking for a team that most analysts consider the 10th-14th best team in the League.
