There has been more but it isnt a lot. Bucs last season were 8-9 and made the playoffs with a home game.

Seems like every 3 years there's always a clunker division where numerous teams slide off the deep end.

The odds of a losing record went up with 17 game season. With even # (12, 14, 16) game seasons, unless a team had a tie game, which are also rare, they have to be 2 games under .500. now with 17 games, team can be either 1 or 2 games under .500 to “qualify”.

One team already met the criteria in the first year of 17 games - thats one for one tharr, not 2 for 60.

We just finished year 2 of the 17 game season. Which team won their division with a losing record and which wild card team with
4 or more wins had to play an away game against them. As far as I know it happened with Tampa this past year. So that would be
1 of 2 not 1 of 1. Plus the only other team that has won a division with a losing record that I know of is Seattle, and that holds for
60 years. But correct me if I'm wrong.

Add in the horrific Thursday night games and I agree with you. Hope the Chargers get their Thursday night game early in the season or after a bye

I hate the 17 game season. But our key guys were already out or badly injured by game 3. Allen, Bosa, Slater, Herbert and Guyton. The eat of the mash unit was out by the mid point. The extra game cost us MW but that was just short sighted coaching g and play calling

I'd be shocked if it took that long. My guess is that it will happen with the next network television rights agreement.
2 preseason games, 18 regulation season games and 2 byes. 20 weeks of television money.
