I'm here mostly for the entertainment value. In fact, ENTIRELY for the entertainment value. But I'm not the only one who has posted that this off-season has been boring; and/or uneventful; pretty much status quo...except for the negative (i.e., the Ekeler Situation). Also, from what I've read, it seems we're one of the worst-positioned teams, from a salary cap standpoint, in the entire League. I've also said this myself a time or two. If we don't win the SB in '23 (LOL!) the bill is going to come due and payable next year. So we'll be on the hook for $30 million for guys (KA, Mack) turning 33 years old. And $30 million for a couple of other guys (Bosa, MW). And still on the hook for FA bust Jackson. And Ekeler will be gone. And Herbie will have to be paid.

So, tell me again about the rosy picture I'm supposed to be seeing? Better question: Do you REALLY think we're in a good position for the next 2-4 years? Or are we going to be mired in salary cap hell, with aging stars whose best years are behind them, trying to keep up with the Chiefs, Bengals, and Bills of the AFC.

You want something 'serious'? I'll say it again: This team needs a change of CULTURE. A new MODEL. Until that happens, our history will be our future.

Basically it looks like its all or nothing this year. Chargers owners are letting TT and Staley ride or bye with the team they built. IF things go south a new HC and GM will be brought in after next season and they will have total freedom to clean house and rebuild everything around Herbert and this rookie draft class and our LT LG and RG.

This will make the job appealing to let's say someone like Jim Harbaugh, because the keys to the kingdom will be available to mold and shape a franchise around a young franchise QB in his prime.

After Keenan has his typical 100+ receptions and 1,100+ yards season next year... they'll trade him for a 4th rounder and save themselves $23 million against the cap. Then they'll save another $23 million by cutting Mack. Jackson is only a bust if he never plays again. I don't have a crystal ball or a time machine... so I'll wait and see. They'll probably draft Ekeler's replacement this draft. Bosa's contract still has years on it and MW will probably be extended... so there are cap options there...

Seems to me that $46 million should cover Herbie for 2024. WR and Edge should be on this year's draft menu. Again, I'll wait and see.

Hmm you gave me an idea. TT's salary is $15 mil or so. Staley's is $4 mil or so.

Theoretically, a guy like Belicheat could be brought in as HC/GM for $24 mil?.

The owners are letting TT & Staley run the team, add a top OC, new assistants, sign an All Pro LB, re-sign depth, handle the draft and any later changes in 2023.
              I'm glad to see it.
It was unfortunate when injuries swept the roster, starting in training camp and we didn't get to see them play as a complete team.
IF we aren't the NFL's most injured team again and IF Moore is as good as he appears to be, postulating more IF's should be about how deep we go in the playoffs.

You're not wrong . . . . . . but I've made my position widely known - no need to continue beating the dead horse. As was posted by someone else earlier; we'll all probably be in agreement (one way or another) by the end of next season !

I have no proof (of course), but I do not believe that current ownership will be willing to pay for a proven top level HC, Harbaugh or otherwise. If BS flames out then look for them to replace him with Moore (unless he sucks too) - then who knows?

Sean Payton's getting paid 20 mil or so per season? Harbaugh or any proven coach will want that much (or more). I just don't see them ponying up that kind of jack.

0 - 17 + full reboot IS a plan ! Just an unlikely one, and one that Smokey knows won't happen, but It may be the right one - who knows at this point??
