You could make the case that their #3 QB (Haener) is better than anyone on our team not named Herbert . . . . . . . . . . . . . Winston is light years ahead of Stick - he's an ex starter in the league with vastly more experience.

Check out the 2022 NFL Opposition & Defensive Statistics including AFC and NFC results and standings on Pro-football-reference.com
After reading the above link, I realized that the Aints had the #2 PASS DEFENSE in 2022!!! Dennis Allen. That's what Stick and #2 Oline faced
Looking further, we play 10 out of 17 opponents who rank in the 2nd half (bottom) vs the PASS based on the 2022 stats of course.

Oddly enough, each, Jameis and Stick had one TD apiece.

Is a former No. 1 overall pick (2015)
Is a former Pro Bowler
Has started 80 NFL games
Has thrown for 5k yds in a season and 4k yds twice
Has thrown 138 TD passes in real NFL games
Was NO's starter until injuries did him in
Is still just 29
There's no comparison between Winston and Stick, and I would like to see him as Herbert's backup over Stick.

5th rounder O'Connell with Raiders
6th rounder McKee with Eagles
5th rounder Thompson-Robinson with Browns
5th rounder Tune with Cardinals
And from the Canadian Football League, FA Nathan Rourke is killing it in Jacksonville. No way he makes it on to the practice squad if the Jags don't keep 3 QBs.

3 of our '23 opponent games are vs top 10 pass D's. I looked that up when peep's were talking tough sched.
Things change and situations will be different, but IMO our opponents should be worried about playing the Chargers.

How'd you like our D?
There were outlier chunk plays allowed.
We had a possible game deciding INT go right through our DBs handsWe play modern Harball.

Fun fact for those not sciency - Moore's Law predicts that Herbert's offensive output will double every 1.5 seasons. If Moore is here 3 years ... yeah, do the math, we're talking a 20,000 yard season based on the best modeling available.
