Former Chiefs and Chargers CB Brandon Flowers is retiring after nine seasons in the NFL.

A second-round pick in 2008, Flowers spent the first six seasons of his career with the Chiefs before signing on with the Chargers for the final three. Flowers has a lengthy concussion history that likely is playing a large role in this decision. Flowers, 31, met with the Cardinals last month and also spoke with the Steelers and Patriots. Flowers went to one Pro Bowl and picked off 21 passes.

That means they don't have to pay his salary. If he was waived/injured, I believe they would have had to pay him for the season. $4 mill I believe.
Now, if you excuse me, I have some Charger memories to suppress.

Either way, they were going to let him go. He can't be waived as he is a vested veteran, waivers only apply when in-season. I'd be ok with him coming back, but there's no room on the roster now.

Aside from Gordon, he is better than any other RB we have.

We are around 15 million under the cap if we cut Andre Williams. Close to 16 million if we cut Barner. Id have no problem giving Matthews 2 per year for 2 years max. Thats Barner and Williams paychecks combined. He gets yards even without holes. Hes a plug and play as well. Id feel better with him over Williams.

Agree 100%. Although he runs hard, Williams can't catch a cold.

why can't start trading for a guard/tackle who can play? Maybe a 5th or 6th draft pick and a DL . Give two preseason games to get into system, NOW!!

They can but Telesco just doesnt do that. Seattle made a trade after losing their LT.Id like to see Telesco be more proactive.

Not many "that can play" are available to be had. Seriously, people here think that other teams are rollin' in OL and are willing to give them away for peanuts. There is some really shitty line play in many of the games I have watched this preseason.

wasn't signing the best Free Agent LT available being proactive? No matter who they acquire or when- injuries take out more players on this team every year and ruin their plans.

It remains to be seen if the guy they picked up can play or not. They were already woefully thin at OT. The guy that was hurt is not very good.
