Playoffs always tell the tale. You are playing the best teams, the best defenses.Originally posted by charger1_sj View Post
I'm sorry to tell that any system does not solve all the problems. A look at what happened to the 49ers in the playoffs against Seattle proves it.
It gets down to the basics, blocking and tackling. If your sub-par in those areas no system will solve it. Miami's best years on offense is when
they had a healthy Waddle and Hill on the field at the same time. Other than that, the outside blocking scheme did not help Miami's offense much.
I think that Roman's approach didn't help. So, a change was needed there. But if our O line doesn't improve, we'll get the same results.
There is no way around it. I'm sure we will see improvement on the offense during the regular season. The question is how that will
translate in the playoffs, assuming we even make it.
That is when line of scrimmage dominates, wins or loses games...and you need high quality offensive line play, not mediocre or poor offensive line play.
We have seen that with our own eyes explicitly in 2024 and 2025.

Didn't Ted Hurst also have the longest long jump of all the WR's at the combine as well??Originally posted by DerwinBosa View Post
This is from a Bob McGinn article on Go Long.
Ted Hurst, Georgia State (6-4, 207, 4.44)
Said one scout: “Nobody knew about him until he got to the Senior Bowl. He’s probably the fastest riser. He’s unpolished but he’s super explosive and competitive. It’s hard to jam him off the line. He’s got a big (catching) radius and he can run. He’s going to get a lot better. He’s more than just a developmental guy. He’s better than a fourth-rounder.”
Ted Hurst and Chris Brazzell are the two WR's we should be looking at??

I would also subscribe to this scenario. Let's imagine for a moment that no significantly better picks are going to be gained in the 2026 draft via bundling QJ and a currently held draft position or that we have to bundle QJ and 2027 1st rounder for AJ Brown as the gossip goes; but somehow suddenly Kenyon Sadiq is there at #22 with Vega long gone. Well heck, although I jumped off Sadiq's bandwagon a couple of weeks ago, I rather grab him with the pick and ironclad the TE room than draft another shiny new WR or trade for one who, knowing our luck, will go sideways on us as usual! If a vet like KA isn't coming back, I rather add a vet like the Cheetah for cheap than giving away QJ plus pushing all chips to the middle of the table for a big name / big tag WR.Originally posted by Velo View Post
The smart play is to keep QJ and see how well he does in year 4. They won't get much for him in a trade and the cap savings is negligible.

High quality, as in team OL execution of play calls, not individuals who cost the most and have high individual P something scores.Originally posted by CanadianBoltFan View Post

You know the OL is doing their job when the run game can't be stopped and/ or Herbert is throwing for 300+ yds and multiple TDs.

Yeah, I couldn't remember MW's 40 and was too lazy to look it up. That's why I said maybe faster. He does play like MW thought the way he goes after jump balls. Regardless, I love this guy and if the Chargers take him in the 2nd rnd I would be stoked.Originally posted by dmac_bolt View Post

Ted Hurst is going to be a season 1 (2026) contributor, dude knows big games big plays. I'm not sure if Caldwell will be ready in year 2. He only had 32 receptions last year in college, under 500 yards. I watched his "highlights" and he does not play as fast as his 40 at all. Round loose routes, the only highlights I saw him deep behind the secondary was a couple blown coverages. He's not elusive underneath for a lot of YAC at the NFL level. I think he's gonna be a project and could be a long project. Anyone old enough to remember how long it took Vince Jackson to develop? Answer = year 4 was his breakout year. VJax was sammy-even-smaller school but still - I see a comparable growth path possible.Originally posted by electricgold View Post

I'd rather take Bryce Lance than Caldwell for whats probably a Day 3 WR flier. Better receiver, more polished, more production. just as fast (I think he had a faster 10 yard split = separation burst)Justin Herbert 2026 MVP Watch

Hortiz could add Deebo Samuel after the draft in May or June.
1 year deal with incentive pay for catches and yards.
He had success with McDaniel. Would improve the depth chart and I think would be a better addition than bringing back Keenan Allen. Deebo is also 4 years younger than Allen.Who has it better than us?

Mdub ran a 4.49 at his college pro day, so add 0.03 to 0.05 to that for an equivalent combine time = low 4.5s probablyOriginally posted by Chargers8491 View Post
