True and he is pretty undersized but if we need more offense, he needs to be in there. He does get up for the ball which is nice to see,.... and Dissley can get back to TE2 but i have a feeling Dissley is going to miss some time.Originally posted by richpjr View Post
Smart is an awful blocker which I am sure factors in to why he hasn't played much.

Well we definitely did not out play them. We scored 0 points in the first half. The D did play very well, up until the very end when everything including the kickOriginally posted by Velo View PostThe Chargers didn't score more points than the Chiefs last night, but I think the Bolts out-played them. One thing that is over-looked is that the Chargers' pass rush beat up Mahomes pretty bad. Mahomes is the ultimate pro and a great player, so a beating like that is never going to cause him to turtle up during a game. But he's going to feel it all week. The Chiefs play in Cleveland next week, I'm predicting the Browns win, and that will be due in large part of ass-whooping the Chargers D front administered onto Mahomes last night.
off went wrong.
2nd thing is we cannot rely on the pass rush to beat the Chiefs in the future. We must remember that they were on their 2nd, 3rd, and 4th string OTs.
While the D is getting there the offense needs major improvement. We have struggled all year to put up 20 or more points. That's just not going
to cut it in the NFL. So would like to see what Hortiz does in the off season to remedy the situation.

That's a reasonable approach in my mind. I wasn't expecting a miracle this year either way. The improvement in defense has been remarkable with Minter. Offense will be a work in progress until we get more pieces after the mess with which TT left us. We need another off season - I think next year the offense will be clicking a lot more.Originally posted by charger1_sj View Post

Making playoffs this year would be a big accomplishment - some added experience for the team even though they most likely lose early on if they make WC position.

We don't run the ball well anyway, so might as well get the better pass catching TE in there so Herbert can find a target before he gets creamed.Originally posted by Boltjolt View Post

I get we want to see what he can do because of his speed but they have their reasons for not playing him. He is also a china doll and it took him half the season to even be able to practice.Originally posted by DerwinBosa View Post
Chark made one catch for nine yards, and there are people on here acting like the coaching staff is holding him back from being an All-Pro.
We dont know why that is that he isnt playing but all i see is complaints like we have amatuer coaches. I sure do NOT want to go back to Staley and McCoy type coaches but all i see is complaining....still! Just gets tiresome.
Its year one, we have a very good defense and a adequate offense. This is our worst team we will have under these coaches and GM and we are likely playoff bound (and the culture is miles better than it has been. Starting next year as the team is even better, KCs reign as AFC West champs may be over! We arent going to a SB this year but it will only get better from here.

With the game on the line and the team trailing, Herbert drove the team down and got the go ahead fg. We lost because the D couldn't hold them.Originally posted by jamrock View Post
Herbert missed more than one pass last night. You may hate that argument but that's not a good reason to dismiss it. And yes Mahomes missed some passes as well but when the games on the line he doesn't.

Rush yards, pass yards, time of possession, and both had 20 first downs...very even
The Chiefs just know who to get it done and make the plays to pull out games...and tbis year they have luck thrown in....that doink would have bounced wide for most teams
Sickening!

I'm not in the NFL is fixed group at all, but you can't expect to beat the Chiefs when they get the ball last and need only a field goal to win. I knew we were going to lose when we got a field goal instead of a touchdown to go up 17-16. Reid and Mahomes are the best in the NFL when it comes to winning in those situations.Originally posted by richpjr View Post

The defense not being able to hold Mahomes in the final minutes wasn't the only reason we lost. Herbert played a role in why we weren't up by more when he missed that pass to Palmer. We shouldn't have been down 13-0 at the half, and we shouldn't have been up by only one with four minutes left in the fourth quarter.
