Harbaugh likes the style of football Roman tries to attain, a physical punishing game that wore defenses out.
That is not McDaniel.
You're probably right.
But I'm sure we can find someone who can run that style of offense more effectively than Roman can. We were hardly ever a "physical punishing" running team under Roman, anyway.
If we do move on from Roman, I am curious if Harbaugh does something unexpected. I mean, probably not, but you have to wonder how these last two playoff losses weigh on him. His brother getting fired. Maybe he will do something differently. I don't know. I am just eager to move on from Roman.

that's the Neanderthal easiest offense to run. However when u don't have the players to do it it would be nice if you have a great creative passing game. This ain't college where you are just bigger than other teams

Yes, which is what he supposedly brings to the table but hasn`t delivered.
His restyling himself as Mike Martz tonight didn`t work out.

Ben Johnson had a great running game in Detroit and now in Chicago. He also has a 2026 style versatile passing game.

If you can`t run the football, and have given up on it .... why was Fisk and Matlock still out there?

How about we get a 2026 OC like this?
Mike McDaniel also had a good running game. Shanahan has a good running game but had guys off the street getting open against the Eagles defense that shut out WRs down.

The one man I see that can run the power run concepts and actually overhaul the OL is Frank Smith. The one bright spot for the Dolphins this season was their running game as they leaned more on it while slowly losing confidence in Tua over the course of the season. Frank Smith was instrumental in that, I believe, just as he was in making guys like Feiler, Aboushi, Slater along with Linsley look good as they were brought in to remake our OL in 2021.

Honestly I think we need to re-think this narrative.
McDaniel was the run game coordinator for the 49ers from 2017-2020, then OC for 2021. The 49ers were consistently one of the strongest offenses, including running the ball, during that time.
I don't think Harbaugh necessarily wants an offense to run the ball 40 times a game. I think he wants an EFFECTIVE running game. The 49ers under McDaniel were exactly that. I also believe they led the league in rushing TDs one year he was there.
Is McDaniel still looking to be a HC, or would he accept being an OC for a good 3 years to polish that resume some more?
