Stick is a similar type player to Wentz, albeit a lesser athlete. And obviously already has a comfort level with him from their time together at NDSU and at very least has some upside, as opposed to those other 2 guys currently there.
You never know what teams is going after what waiver wire cuts. Given the # of QB spots, the learning curve at QB and that other QB are playing well too, it is a crap shoot. But it only takes 1 team to like a player, just like the draft.

As far as Indy goes, Brissett is the only decent QB they have. Kelly has an NFL arm, but a 10 cent head, a potential alcohol problem (see his Halloween part arrest), and his looming suspension. His suspension means he will not be a backup on week 1 or 2. Even if Kelly is going to be the backup, they have to sign another QB for those first two weeks.

Sudfield is pretty much not an option in Indy because of his arm. Later in the season, maybe he is an option, but again, if he can't play week 1 or 2, they need a body. It was a 6 week deal back in the 1st week in August, so that suggests missing through week 3. Plus, Sudfeld doesn't know the Indy offense. Frank put in our offense, not the Philly offense. Since Kelly is not available early in the year, Sudfield isn't going to be able to play either, they need a #2 QB for at least weeks 1 and 2. That limits their options. Add into it the fact Stick has an almost photographic memory, he can get up to speed quick.

IN Philly, Kessler is just a camp arm. They don't care about him. Sudfield is out for a while. McCown is a better option as a #2 than anyone else listed, so he is definitely the favorite. If they add Stick, it would be as a #3 QB, but given Wentz slow recovery, a real possibility. The advantage is that Wentz and Stick have played together, and been friends through a somewhat awkward situation in college, when Stick took over the team, lead them to the national championship, to then be replaced by Wentz at Stick own request.

I'm not saying it will happen, but if you think he has the "it" factor, we should try and save him. Again Cardale Jones is the perfect example of a guy being a great prospect on paper, and then not showing the "it" factor. I like Jones and if we had a roster exemption for him, I would be fine with keeping him. he is showing improvement finally, which makes sense given his snap counts (he only played 1 years worth in college and was a 3rd string in buffalo and with us). He is finally getting the snap he needs, but he is way behind a player with more experience in Stick.

Tyrod is on a 1 year flier. It is a 2 year deal, but the 2nd year is a throw away for a backup. Taylor will probably get released unless there is an issue with Rivers getting a new deal. Either Stick or Cardale is probably going to be the #2 QB next season, unless a Taylor takes a pay cut (this is if Rivers returns).

Chad Kelly is going to miss 2 games from suspension.

Stick will get his sit down year and next season in 2020 he can compete for a backup job. But Tyrod isnt going anywhere this year.

Cannot believe Jones will ever be our #2 QB. Insanity.

Many teams have a developmental QB. Many also are not willing to keep them on the 53 man roster. If he gets poached, they have to keep him on the active roster. Harder to do with a developmental qb as they don't provide an ability to help currently, unlike other positions where they could potentially add depth and ST play.

0% chance Indy would have Stick as their placeholder backup amd have to keep him on the 53. Thwy willl pick up a journeyman vet after cuts. They already have inexperienced guys, they will look to add a vet to the QB room.

Vets will pick up an offense a heck of a lot quicker than ANY rook. There are only so many offenses being run and variants of each. Stick is one week removed from looking like crap vs 3rd and fourth stringers. He has some potential, but is a long way from being a primary backup at this point.

Who do you think is out there?

This is the list from Ourlads, sorting by position rather than by team. I took the 1st two names off of each teams list, just to show who is likely to be available. Like I said before, half the teams on the list carried a 3rd QB, so even some of the names on this list will not be cuts.

There are litreally only a few decent names on the list, and understandably those are not likely cuts.
PLayers with establish roles making them less likely to be cut

Hou - Joe Webb, he plays ST and WR for Hou, besides being a backup QB.
SF - CJ Beathard, they have already said they will not trade him unless they get a good offer, so they certainly won't cut him from their roster. He is a trade candidate, but not cuts.
NO - Hill, again has a roster spot locked up because he is more than just a backup QB.
Was - Colt McCoy seems to be secure, or that is word coming out of Redskins camp, even though Haskins is not winning the starting job (yet).

Paxton Lynch and Nathan Peterman's fame will work against them because most of their fans will hate the selection. Lose Luck to bring in Peterman, a guy who threw 5 pick in a half, and really hasn't done anything in his time as a starter. Lynch, an almost complete failure who isn't even playing much for Seattle.

The only name I took off the list (besides the 1st and 2nd string guys was Alex Smith since he is still on crutches.

In that Week 3 game, did Stick have the Bolt 1&2 string in front of him during his play or the scrubs headed for the cut down?
