Kind of far off in the process to know where we are going to pick and what QBs will be available. Best case scenario at this point IMO:

    - We lose out and draft in the top 5
    - We trade down a few picks to get another pick from 20-35
    - We still gets Hurts in the 1st round.
    - We our high comp pick plus our 2nd rounder to move up to top 15 and select an OT.

right now Chargers are picking 9th according to a current mock draft I saw..... at least in top 10 area, we should get difference making player on OL/DL......

We will not draft high enough to draft a great franchise QB, until Rivers retires and Chargers lose out to get #1 pick.....

problem is if our defense gets better and running game gets better, we will never lose enough games......

If Burrow is the answer, we need to lose out..... we may lose out even trying hard to win.... we dominated KC and kept Hill from doing anything yet lost anyway....... we are a better team than DEN yet we lost twice...... we are better than raiders, yet they kicked our ass.....

        our remaining schedule:

at JAX...... strong running game ands pass rush, plus bad weather back east, will mean game will be close and like rest of our games, any mistake will cause team to lose...

vs MIN........ our pass rush should make cousins look like bad cousins.... but MIN running game and defense will dominate Charegers as well..... and NFL needs MIN to win game to make its as WC.....

vs OAK...... will be a home game for raiders..... and raiders OL and DL should dominate our bad OL again and weak DT's/LBers

at KC...... KC is better team right now and will need that game to have playoff bye......and KC usually wins even if game is meaningless...Chargers will have stuff packed up for off season..... maybe resting guys like Rivers......

so a 4-12 or at best 5-11 record is most likely......that may put us in top 5 somewhere....

        Current race for top pick:

1 - CIN - needs QB, but maybe the redhead wins a few games at end of season to drop out of the spot or change draft priorities?
2 - Giants - not likely to draft a QB high
3 - Wash- not likely to draft a QB high
        4 - MIA- needs QB
5 - ATL- not likely to draft a QB high
6 - DET- not likely to draft a QB high
7 - ARIZ- not likely to draft a QB high
8 -JETS- not likely to draft a QB high
        9 - Chargers - needs QB
        10 - JAX- needs QB
11 - DEN- not likely to draft a QB high
12 - CAR -- not likely to draft a QB high
13 - PHI - not likely to draft a QB high
14 - TB - not likely to draft a QB high
15 - CLEV - not likely to draft a QB high

Odds are Burrow will go to CIN or a team that can trade up top that spot. Biggest problem is MIA desperately needs a real QB and has more ammo/high picks to trade up with. This might be our best shot if we can get closer and work a trade....... otherwise it could be many years......

          2020 1st, 3rd
          2021 1st, 3rd
          Mike Williams-WR

To Bengals or Giants for #1 pick.

I hope Bengals beat Dolphins & Browns. 3-13
          And Giants lose out. 2-14

Will be better chance if Chargers go 0-4 or 1-3 to end this year.
          4-12 is around pick 4,5,6
          5-11 is around pick 7,8,9

If it's the Giants at #1. They are not picking QB.
They could use the extra picks and a target for Danny Dimes. So Mike Williams included should be more attractive. I'm not sold on him being anything other than a big target jump ball WR. The team needs more speed at wide out. Would look to add free agent WR. There are a lot decent free agents that should give you production.

          You get the #1 overall.
So you lost 2020 3rd & Mike Williams.
          And the 2021 1st & 3rd.

To me that is not selling the farm for a QB.
Free agency is there to support a move. Can bring in some competition that already has NFL experience.

The team that could derail this are the Dolphins, they have more ammunnition to move up to #1.
Chargers just can not compete with their offer if they are willing to do what it takes.

Who has it better than us?

There is zero chance this team trades 2 first and 2 third round picks for anyone as TT values building the team through the draft. We have too many contracts expiring in the next couple of years and will need to replace them.

I was reading this article on ESPN.

Basically saying that Cam Newton and Rivers could switch places.

But I see Rivers retiring instead.
Bridgewater, Newton, Trubisky, Rivers, Mariota -- all could change teams this offseason. And that's just the start.

                Correct.

Losing our franchise QB means this team is in full rebuild mode.

The correct way to rebuild is just to tank and get a high pick naturally.

Rebuilding the correct way also means keeping all your picks (not trading them away) and get rid of your under performing high priced free agents.

This may mean saying goodbye to Bosa and others like Pouncey, Okung, Ingram, etc.

So keep your picks and your cash and get a good GM that can make picks to rebuild this team. Use the cash you save to get high performing Free agents.

                  not necessarily true......

with the YOUNG players we have on defense, like Bosa, James, Adderly, Tillery, King, we have a nucleus to build a great defense..... and with a solid defense we will never lose enough games to pick number one......

If Rivers is not resigned or retires, we will be in DESPERATE QB need mode like we were after Fouts was gone, up to and after the Leaf era..... Tyrod Taylor is at best a plus ore minus 7-8 win guy...... so sticking with Taylor at QB will ensure we never draft high enough to get one..... and all of our young stars will get old......

This year we will end up with only 4 or maybe 5 wins...... which is a close to the top spot as we will get...... also most of the high draft pick teams already have a young QB they believe in so they won't need one..... and Chargers will not have a starting NFL QB on roster.......

many people would look to the 49ers for how to build a great team...... building the OL and DL before getting a QB....... what most dont realize is the 49ers would have drafted a franchise QB IF one was available, but since they did not believe in any of the available QB's in past few drafts, they drafted the best player's available....... which has lead to their having dominating OL and DL with depth.....

The NUMBER ONE rule all time for building a football team is you NEVER EVER pass up a franchise potential HOF QB......... they are extremely rare and they dont exist in every draft....... so if you need one and one is there where you draft you MUST take him and then build your OL, etc...... if there is one a few spots ahead of where you are drafting you must make every effort to trade for that QB..... Elway was clearly worth the 3 first round picks the colts were asking for from Chargers..... but sadly DEN eventually;y treaded him to DEN for nearly nothing........ and yes, Chargers should have taken Marino with our 2nd first round pick in '83...... would have been a perfect clone replacement for Fouts ..... BUT that error was about bad judgement by Chargers brass...... Byrd was an average CB, not elite.....

Some people think that there are multiple QB's in this draft who could be the Chargers starter in 2020 or 2021?...... i and most people disagree..... Burrow is head and shoulders above everyone..... he is big, strong, very quick and very accurate...... and he makes perfect throws into tight coverage..... he is not just throwing up high balls to totally wide open WR's...... he tore apart great defenses.....

Its really hard to judge Tua, because he never had to ,make a great throw and his OL, running game, and defense are NFL quality so any Bama QB will be over rated......

The oregon QB is way over rated like Goiff and Mariota were.......he mostly threw to wide open uncovered receivers....... easy tosses..... little or no defense....

Burrow is a stud, who knows how to move inside the pocket, outside the pocket, can run for yardage or complete every kind of pass into tight coverage......and he's clutch...... . BEST QB ive seen in many many years...... since 2004......maybe better then Rivers manning and big ben.......more atthletic then them..... He is with trading up for and sending players and picks..... CIN is not the smartest organization out there.... they might give up that pick for the right price........ and Burrow will be worth it!

If Burrow turns out to be the next truly great NFL QB, for next 15 years or more he will be well worth multiple high draft picks......

Passing on this opportunity and gambling on finding a gem QB in mid to late first round or 2nd round?...... is a very iffy prospect...... looking for next lamar Jackson is not likely and besides, defense will eventually;y figure him out or beat him to a pulp..... he is not likely to have a long career...... who wants to draft a QB every few years????

With Rivers salary gone, we will have money to sign a couple of FA's to start on our OL ...... and we can afford to extend Bosa...... when Burrow eventually needs a big contract, Bosa will be starting to get old and we can trade him pr let him go to have money for Burrow........

Once we have our new QB, were will then know what type of OL to draft, what type of WR's, TE's, and RB's to draft..........

I agree, that Spanois and TT are not likely to even attempt to trade up for Burrow, BUT it would be totally stupid not to........ and Burrow would selll seats in that new stadium!

We don’t necessarily have to draft early to get a good franchise QB.. look at Russell Wilson, Lamar Jackson, Deshaun Watson

Agree...all I want is just a good game manager...someone who can make the short and intermediate passes, throws very few picks, and can extend a few drives once in a while with his legs...Build the O-line and get a game manager QB, and we put ourselves in a good spot...

That could be Stick. I know many want to write him off after his first preseason but those are not serious football takes just emotional whiny reactions. To me he has all the appearances of a game manager. We shall see though.
