I wouldn't have done it either. And it's more about their bloated cap than it is about the 1st-round picks — though that's a pretty steep price.
Not only did the Ravens blow all their cap space (they're actually 10M over now), it made their roster even more top heavy. They're spending nearly $200M (2/3 of their cap) on 5 players.
Not a good allocation of resources, IMO. Compare that to the Bolts whose top 5 guys are $112M of combined cap hit.
Plus we all know edge rushers can fall off in a hurry. Once that motor goes...
Maybe Hortiz was the voice of reason there for DeCosta. This could blow up on him. I'm also hearing he is still working on a extension with Lamar.
Lamar represents himself
Fired John Harbaugh and traded two #1s for Maxx Crosby? this is all very uncharacteristic for the Ravens...the Ravens have some cap issues and they need to replace their LG and RG positions...I love Crosby as a player but he's turning 29, if he was 26 I'd say that the Ravens won this trade but he's a year away from turning 30, the draft is loaded with Edge and the FA market is crawling with Edge players that require no draft capital to acquire, including a guy like Hendrickson...I think the Ravens are definitely re-signing Linderbaum, this is why the Chargers went after Biadasz...
so what does this mean for Mack or Oweh in Baltimore? I think the chances of those guys returning to the Chargers just went up...

I'm loving McDuffie and Crosby out of the AFC west...

2 first rounders is a LOT for a 28 year old (29 by season's beginning) edge who is renowned for giving 110% every play and putting wear on his body.
I wouldn't have done it.
Crosby has put a lot of wear and tear on that skinny ass body, but his heart is unmatched, his attitude alone will lift that defense in baltimore several notches...but from a team building POV, I disagree with tis move by Baltimore, they are in stupid ass delusional if they really think that they are one player away from a Super Bowl, that roster has sprung a few personnel issues and some serious cap concerns in the last two years...

Wonder what their cap looks like now?
Is Linderbaum out?
I think this means that they absolutely HAVE to keep Linderbaum...that extension that they are working on for Lamar might clear up the cap space that they need to keep Tyler...

...And with the 14th pick in the draft the Las Vegas Raiders select OG- Olaivavega Loane. And if they don't pick him Detroit will.
perfect Baltimore pick and need, not sure why the Ravens did this...

I think this will go down as a terrible trade for the Ravens, if the Raiders nail those picks they could turn their fortunes around very quickly...

Yeah, my gut tells me this is not going to end well for the Ravens, we'll see, they definitely acquired a big time weapon for Minter, but it's not like they don't have issues in other parts of the roster so this move signals that they feel they are there ready to fight for Super Bowl and I think they are wrong, that whole roster took a couple of steps back last year...I think the Raven's owner is tired of tried and true steady approach, this feels like the ravens are trying to be like the Rams....

They'll restructure Lamar and free up a lot of cap
They are never going to win a Super Bowl with Lamar Jackson, never...

Broncos and Patriots benefit - in a roundabout way
Because tyler Loop gagged and missed that FG, besides the terrible tackling, and what not, Baltimore finished second
Pittsburgh finished first
So the Patriots and Broncos get to play the Steelers
Chargers get the Ravens. Seems like the Ravens are much improved
Chargers play the Texans
Broncos and Patriots get the Jags
Oh well - have to play the games
I think the Ravens got a heckuva player but the price is steep

Hortiz needs to stick with the plan - don't panic
if Alt/Slater are healthy, Crosby isn't going to do much against the Chargers Why panic?
