This type of WR seems to thrive in the NFL: 6-1ish to 6-2; between 200-215 lbs; not blazing speed.

    Examples:

    Cooper Kupp: 6-2, 204lbs, 4.6 40 time
    Davante Adams: 6-1, 215lbs, 4.56 40 time
    DeAndre Hopkins: 6-1, 214lbs, 4.57 40 time
    Justin Jefferson: 6-1, 202lbs, 4.43 40 time
Keenan Allen: 6-2, 206lbs, 4.56 40 time? (not sure, but he's not a speedster, as we know)

There are more examples, but these five really stand out IMO. What is it about this height/weight/speed combo that makes for great WRs? Only Jefferson has a sub 4.5 40 time.

Our own Joshua Palmer is in this category too: 6-1, 210lbs, 4.52 speed. I look forward to Palmer's 2nd season.
Just curious, did most if not all of those wrs really kick ass and show they were above most others their first season?

Agility, change of direction, and ability to set up breaks by manipulating the defender onto the wrong foot or leverage.

          Just going by memory:

Cooper Kupp: Yes - he had a nice first season as a 3rd option (50 + catches) - Rams were very happy
Devontae Adams: so-so stats (Palmeresque), Green Bay develops talent - does not thrown them out there to sink or swim
De'Andre Hopkins: Yes - had to look up: 52 catches for 803 yards
Justin Jefferson: Yes - runner-up to Herbert for rookie of the year
Keenan Allen: Yes - backup and not often used until injuries struck receiving corp around midseason.

So much depends on who is in front of them.

Josh Palmer's rookie season was almost identical to Devonte Adams - someone i compared him to from the very beginning.
That is why Chaincrusher is so excited about his future.

I wanted to add Larry Fitzgerald was a 4.63 guy.

My sweet spot WR as of right now is 6-2 205lbs with a 4.5 - 4.6 time (is acceptable). 10 inch hands. Sub 7-second 3-cone.

-At 6-2 has the frame/height advantage over DBs.
-205lbs has the size advantage yet light enough to retain nimbleness.
-40 time is a can of worms.
-10-inch hands to better grasp/grab/secure/fight for the ball.
            -Sub 7 3-cone for change of pace/direction.

All of these things. It seems that body size is the perfect combo of ability to dominate and still be athletic.

He is one of my fave players of all time. He was only 6-1, but at 220 lbs he was physically dominant. That was the key to his success.

Just give me a wr who has hands to catch everything that it touches. With these sticky gloves they have, one hand grabs are possibly. But any wr who gets two hands on the ball, that can keep it, is all I want. Well, that and height.

Everybody talks about a debt coming due but they've been saying about the Rams for a few seasons. Goff trade, Gurley contract, etc. They just keep it moving as Staley would say.

The Rams are willing to trade early round picks for veterans who can come in and make a difference from the start. OBJ cost nothing, Miller a couple of early round picks, Stafford some early round picks and Ramsey some early round picks.

My guess is they let Ramsey go first. He was not good in the Super Bowl.
He’s been one of the keys to their defense since he got there. He’s going nowhere. If you cut every guy that has a bad game, you don’t have a team. Looking at the crop of QBs in this year’s draft, and looking at Goff continue to flounder and flail now in DET, the Stafford trade looks genius to me. QB is more important than the next 5 best guys on your roster combined.

I think he was a 4.7 guy when he was still recovering from his college injury. I’d be willing to bet he was a tad faster in his early years, though definitely not 4.4.

He may be headed back to 4.7 now lol
