With the Chargers having moved on from quarterback Philip Rivers, coach Anthony Lynn told AM 570 LA Sports that Tyrod Taylor, last season's backup, could earn the job as the starter in 2020.
Coach Lynn also is advocating for the path of least resistance. If the Chargers are going to ask me to take this leap of
faith with Taylor at QB, they better design an offense around Taylor's skill-set, and to get the ball out of his hands and into his playmaker's hands.

But Tyrod was over .500 as a starter in Buffalo with a much less talented supporting cast.
If we fix up the line a bit and don't get quite so unlucky with injury/close losses it is definitely possible to go 9-7/10-6 with Tyrod as the QB.

OR
- Tyrod got hurt preseason and our FO already missed out on all the top FA QB's and in the draft so we have to go with Stick as the only QB familiar with our system.

Mahomes was sacked on 3.9% of his pass attempts
Taylor was sacked on 9.4% of his pass attempts
Mahomes threw TD passes on 6.9% of his pass attempts
Taylor threw TD passes on 4.0% of his pass attempts
So Taylor gets sacked 241% more often than Mahomes and throws TD passes on 57% less of his passes.

With the oline not opening any holes, Gordon and Eck were constantly running into brick walls on 1st or 2nd down, running down the clock.
The scoring drop off lands squarely at the feet of our offensive genius (I never had my own playbook) Lynn.
