Judging a draft immediately afterwards is a fool’s errand.
We selected 4 prospects in my top 120 overall and that is with not ranking any QB prospects. I am very pleased.

    From my board we acquired.....

#6 - Justin Herbert- no rank
    #23 - Kenneth ‘K9’ Murray - #9
    #112 - Joshua Kelley - #99
    #151 - Joe Reed - #66
    #186 - Alohi Gilman - #255
    #220 - K.J. Hill - #118

      round one

      6) will admit to gettin' a bit teary eyed listening to some of the Justin Herbert stuff.... dude is pretty genuine/sincere, and as am a little familiar w/the Eugene vibe/culture there as my sis' lives there.

hard not to root for the guy, and I will, and.... just didn't and still don't in hindsight, like the risk factor.... woulda gone the safer route on the Oline w/Wirfs.

A for effort and not sitting on your hands, albeit long-term projection is a C.... will hope it goes North/pans out otherwise.

      23) bit of a surprise, and little surprised that I didn't even sleuth out that that mighta been an option as value wise it lined up just about perfect.... we have a sentimental FO, and again really hard not to like Kenneth Murray the person.... feels really good to have him as a Chargers based on how he handles himself and his story to date, and.... hopefully he can play some MIKE and help against the run.... didn't really focus on him coming into the draft, which is a ? for myself, and again.... woulda gone Oline here w/Ruiz (w/the trade up)

solid B, as was pretty/really happy w/the Denzel pick when he went in the second and willing to give this guy the benefit of the doubt, and given his support here on the forum and in the at larger draft community.... welcome to Chargerland Mr. Murray.

        day two

both my guys were off the board @37, and then Wanoghost was nowhere to be found @71 (not 'til 210....), and so in hindsight the trade up made all the sense in the world.

@37 the guys that (again in hindsight, as that's all we get as armchairs and without the reams of info scouts and GMs get) woulda been under consideration there include CBs Jaylon Johnson/Kristian Fulton, RBs Cam Akers/JK Dobbins, and DE AJ Epenesa, who woulda been an especially intriguing pick, given the Bosa contract situation ??

@71 and without taking Prince, there was obviously OT Josh Jones sitting there, and....

gotta mention Fromm who not only didn't get selected in the top 100 (as like 54 well proclaimed), let alone the first round.... he went after James Morgan as well.... could be biggest surprise of the draft for me, albeit on the heels of my Stidahm slide last year, maybe it will become an annual thing ?? Eason not 'til the fourth was a surprise as well.... (for the record also thought Ryan Finley was gonna be alright from last year's draft)

As far as draft grades go...so the Raiders got Henry Ruggs and Tyrell Williams at WR. You'd expect them to draft some big uglies in the trenches right?

Proceeds to draft 2 more WRs. :troll:

            day three

            112) was a proponent of drafting Kelly for a bit somewhere in the middle of the draft process, so not disappointed in him, albeit again would def be leaning lineman here w/Leki Fotu…. other names that woulda been a consideration here (after the fact/in hindsight) were TE Harrison Bryant and Biadasz, who really fell off draft radars after being a (Billy Price like) first round consideration.

            151) don't know a ton 'bout Reed, and think he's more a 4/5 receiver than our desired WR3, and not sure Saahdiq Charles was a good/necessary gambit, and.... there were the edge/LEOs Curtis Weaver/Bradlee Anae that might be something/good value here, and then there was Jake Fromm State Farm....

            186) was also a proponent of this guy a time or two and even haphazared a guess that he was the most likely Golden Boy to be selected by Telesco, and despite how adamant Ninj mighta been in opposition to that.... think Jon Runyan woulda been a good get here, and do still like Aaron Fuller in the slot.

            220) will not be surprised if Hill turns out to be one of the better value picks in the draft, as think/suspect he is close to being exactly what we need @WR3, given his ability to separate and work from the slot....

overall will give team Tommy John an above avg grade here as think they prolly got @least 5 (outta the usual 7) prospects that can contribute, and.... wondering if his job hangs in the balance re: the outcome of Herbert ??

history has borne out that team TommyJohn does better the better they are slotted, and eye think that bore out (grammar w/those last two ?), and I think that held true, and.... Herbert would put them over the top.

With Cincy, Miami and the Chargers all drafting QB's, reminds me of the 80's, when the Chargers played these teams in games like the Freezer Bowl and the Epic in Miami.

So a lot of smoke and BS about Chargers not wanting a QB. Some more BS about getting a tackle in the first 2 rounds. This was a deep draft to get a tackle in the first 2 rounds and we come away with nada. The trade up was costly. Day 2 was a great opportunity to get some skill players for the offense. Once again we got nada. I thought we could use a TE and CB, but the Bolts didn't draft any. Half of the players drafted are ones I would try to avoid in mock drafts. If I had done an anti-mock draft it would have been more accurate than any other mock draft I did this whole off season.

Day 1 feels like an A-. 3rd QB taken and I didn't think we needed to trade up for a LB. But high upside for both players.
              Day 2 is an F.
Day 3 is a C-. They did what they could. Excited about Reed, optimistic about Kelley.

Overall C-. No Oline drafted at all. No TE or CB drafted. And while the division is loading up on weapons in the first 3 rounds, we get ours in the last 4.

I had to sit down and think about this one. In our division it has literally become an ARMS race in scoring due to Mahomes and the Chiefs. They need all the fire power they can muster just to try and compete. The Chargers will have a more balanced attack!

Imagine if our only QB was Stick and we went through the draft without picking a QB. Because that’s what NE did

I think they'll go after Cam or Winston. They have to!

If Herbert busts no one will give a shit about the others, this draft will be an F. Sorry dude, it’s all on you.
