My guess is most likely after the fifth game. And it depends on how well Tyrod Taylor does. Should be seeing a lot of running from this team this year where I think we will be top 5 in rushing. Theres no way coach Lynn is going to put the game on the line with Tyrod Taylor. So yeah I expect us to run 40 to 50 times a game and pass about 20 to 30 times.

Taylor has never had a major injury but has missed at least one game in every year he was a starter so it could come at any time.

First, it will take about 8 games for Lynn to realize that his antiquated offense doesn't work in the modern NFL, and another 4 games to realize Taylor isn't good enough to run a modern offense. In December, when we have been eliminated from the playoffs, Herbert will finally make an appearance.
Now, if you excuse me, I have some Charger memories to suppress.

Agree, with Tyrod's running style and weak left O-line support it is just a matter of time before he has an injury of some sort. When that happens Herbert will have an opportunity to keep the position by showing something special. If not Taylor will come back in. Lynn is predictable and I wouldn't expect anything other than that.

Only other way we see Herbert is if Tyrod is a complete disaster.

This is probably the sad reality, of course barring Taylor getting knocked out by injury......

I would like to see us start Herbert art least right after the bye week, or better after week 4 so season is not completely over.

Lynn is so traditional that if our offense does not turn over the ball only musters 3-13(or maybe 17) points per game but our defense plays great enough to beat some of the really bad teams, Lynn will stick with Taylor until we are mathematically eliminated from WC contention.....

This game against a bad(they had the first pick) CIN team should tell us alot about how Lynn will approach this season..... will he blitz the rookie QB???? or play super conservative soft zones, allowing Burrow to complete everything short like they did to Brady in playoffs.....??? Will we just keep running over and over again even though we are unsuccessful??? ....maybe he will shock us all with an aggressive defense and aggressive passing offense???

PUT HERBERT IN FOR A FEW SERIES EACH WEEK. DEF WOULD HAVE TO ADJUST AND SPLIT PLANNING. RIGHT NOW WITH 60 % OF O-LINE OUT AND ONE WR OUT IT MAY NOT MATTER WHO PLAYS QB.

Answer to the question. When the Spanos clan decides he should start. Lynn doesn't have the control on it like people think he does. Sure, he makes the daily decisions on the roster and player movement. But when it comes to something vital like the QB, and other things, one of the Spanos can step in and has the final say. The people who are at the top will be the ones who decide that. The Spanos can override Lynn. If they force Lynn to start Herbert, then Lynn will start Herbert. The Spanos are his boss. They are the ones cashing the checks. They won't want to bore people with Tyrod Taylor for too long. Especially if they can see that it's not working out.

Taylor is starting now because they have to give him a fair shot. After 4 games we'll be able to tell what this team can do with Tyrod at the helm. Herbert is going to be taking this time to watch and learn from him.

Where did you get 60% of the Oline is out?

Questionable in the NFL means more likely playing than not.

Maybe for the rest of the league. With the chargers they're preparing us for the let down. LOL! I always get the feeling that maybe they're saving our players for the chiefs game...
