If the Chargers are under .500 after five games, Herbert could begin his career against NYJ, MIA and JAX weeks 6-7 and 8.
Not a bad way to start a QB's career.

That's a good stretch for him to begin his pro career. Though if the Chargers are 2-3 I don't know if Lynn will pull the trigger. If they are 1-4 or 0-5, then yes.

2 - 3 --> no change
0 - 5 --> no change - Lynn's job will be on the line & Herbert is a rookie...3 winnable games approaching for Tyrod and L.A.
1 - 7 --> desperation time, Herbert would start week 9 in that scenario

At 1-7 and there is not a plethora of injuries I think lynn is out of a job!

If LAC's offense is struggling behind 2nd - 4th string OL starters, it'll be Taylor or Stick.
No way they throw unprotected Herbert to the dogs.

I kind of agree but after seeing the OL yesterday, I thought they did a pretty good job on pass pro. Even Tevi did ok. Both Guards played well. Taylor had enough time, but he's very inaccurate! If he continues to be that inaccurate it's gonna be a long season - loooooong!
If they have to replace him, I'd rather see them put Stick in and let Herbert continue to learn and prepare before he plays. I also think if and when Herbert plays it shouldn't be during a game. When they want to start playing him he should have the full week practicing with the first team.
One more reason to not bench Taylor is his backup. Justin Herbert has incredible arm talent, but his main problem in college was reading defenses quickly and making correct decisions. If that was his problem in college, do we really want to stick him into an offense in transition now and destroy his confidence?
