I mean, they’re pretty physically comparable. Horn edges out Surtain a little on the metrics, but I think Surtain is way more polished, he’s a better tackler, and seems pretty heady.
The game’s slowed down more for Surtain than Horn.
Staley values field awareness and Surtain wins there.

Its a better outcome than guys like Myles Jack and Jaylen Smith got. They dropped to the 2nd because of career threatening medicals. Its one thing for him to be healed and ready for the season...its another for this to be a long term problem. A career long struggle. Only time will tell. Backs scare me. But i really know little about what he is dealing with post surgery. He is the 3rd CB on my board simply because of the long term fears i have...not whether he is ready for the season. He might have the largest bag of tricks out of the 3. Best combo of skills and football IQ. More athletic Surtain. Less Dog than Horn.
Like i said he is a top talent skillswise. Kind of a cross between Horn and Surtain to me. Im nervous at 13....but i get behind the pick and feel good about what he brings from a skill pov if hes the guy. But the trust? Needs to earn it. Im in a sort of go for broke mode this draft season. Covid tweaked things enough for me that im in "house Money" mode for some reason. Needs to play a couple seasons without the back issue. Then ill trust it. I put a 3 year study on all players anyways.
I little move back and grab him would be sweet.
He is both supremely confident (declares himself DB#1)
and
humble (gives praise and respects others.)
Mindset is so important at CB, as you pointed out with Jaycee.
Staley leaves the outside Corners on an island,
as the Safeties are busy with other responsibilities.
I would seriously consider Farley at #13 !Maybe we do play modern football.

This interview today really struck me. Farley is matter of fact, self confident without coming across as being arrogant.
He is not afraid to talk about his elite speed. He can keep up with the fastest weapons. Recovery is not in Caleb's vocabulary, but it would be available.
Farley spoke of Charles Woodson (ball skills), Ty Long (coverage skills), and even all the way back to Darrell Green (pure speed). This tells me that Farley doesn't just get by on athleticism, but will surely be good at his cerebrals and processing.
There is a big chip on the shoulder about this injury setback.
Farley is Surtain with greater athleticism, and Horn-like, with a healthy portion of that piss and vinegar.Maybe we do play modern football.

The opposite is true for CB. 2022 will be the year of the CB. The class is brimming with them. Maybe we should lock up our OT and S in R1-R2, then take the best available CB at #77. We can always draft a couple humdingers next year.
The list of 2022 CBs:
Tre’Vius Hodges-Tomlinson, CB, TCU
T.J. Carter, CB, TCU
Josh Jobe, CB, BAMA
Malachi Moore, CB, BAMA
Cobe Bryant, CB, CIN
Ahmad Gardner, CB, CIN
Chase Lucas, CB, ASU
Jack Jones, CB, ASU
Eli Ricks, CB, LSU
Derek Stingley, CB, LSU
Trent McDuffie, CB, WA
Tiawan Mullen, CB, IU
Derrick Canteen, CB, GASU
Mykael Wright, CB, ORE
Kaiir Elam, CB, FLA
Isaac Taylor-Stewart, CB, USC
Martin Emerson, CB, MS ST
Shyheim Battle, CB, NC ST
Karon Prunty, CB, KU
Derion Kendrick, CB, CLEM
Kei’trel Clark, CB, Louisville
Marcus Jones, CB, Houston

Horn's 4.39 time would be closer to 4.47 at the combine....still respectable.
Ramsey was a 4.41 guy...and he was just so explosive and sudden at Florida State.Last edited by powderblueboy; 04-14-2021, 10:26 PM.
