NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports the 49ers are "down to" Alabama QB Mac Jones and North Dakota State QB Trey Lance at No. 3 overall.


We have an extremely difficult time believing the 49ers would trade up to No. 3 overall without knowing who the pick was, but we suppose stranger things have happened. Something else that keeps happening is names other than Jones getting leaked while Jones never really leaves the picture. It would seem the Niners have been locked in on Jones all along but are trying to create a narrative of uncertainty. They have no need to smokescreen since the first two picks are locked in and they cannot be be jumped, so that would admittedly be odd. Perhaps this is the rare time where a team in the Niners' situation really does not know what they will do four days from now. The preponderance of evidence says they will select Jones.

My sources indicate Penei is going to be a bust at LT. He's really an okay RT but his true calling is at ummmm Fullback. He's only 6-4 with short arms. NFL scouts you know what to do...pass on this kid lol.

I'm comfortable @#13. I'm not comfortable giving up the #47 pick. Too many players there that I think Staley would be excited to put on his defense. Even the #77 and #97 picks are probably picks that become starters on defense or quality defensive depth.

I've gotten used to the fact that we're not getting Sewell. I started accepting that fact back when we went on a mini-win streak in the middle of the season. And I'm cool with that. I've never needed a potential All-Pro @LT. All I've ever wanted was a solid LT (Okung was nice... for a year). Someone who can come in and start Day-1. Not another project... a 1st rounder. 1st round OT's have been very successful the last 5 drafts or so.

a CB at 47 and call it good
