Draft position update following week 13 and heading into week 14.

Chargers are drafting 5th and have a must lose game against the Falcons. If the Chargers lose they are guaranteed to move up to 4th.
Dallas plays Cincinnati so we will pass the winner of that game. I'm hoping for a Cincy win. I think Dallas has another win or two in them playing in the NFC East.
The other chances we have to put some space between us and those behind us is Denver against Carolina and Houston v. Chicago. If Chargers lose and Denver and Houston win it would pretty much secure the Chargers a top 7 pick.

think our CB monies are gonna be tied up/best spent in bringing back our own in Facyson and Mike D.

not sure Campbell is gonna have a return ticket, and ditto for Verrett and/or King.

personally am looking to the draft for multiple corners and safeties.

      (and ditto for the Oline....)
5/11 Fuaga, 37 Kamari Lassiter, 40 Sinnott, 67 Bralen Trice, 69 Cedric Gray, 105 Jaylen Wright, 110 Braelon Allen, 140 Joe Milton, 181 Khristian Boyd, Tylan Grable, 225 Daijun Edwards, 253 Miyan Williams

Good point. If at the time you overdraft the guy but he turns out to be a good player - it doesn't matter.

So, yes, trading down from 5 to 8 for a guy like Slater - who knows if he is a reach - but if he plays LT for you like Ramcyzk has played, doesn't matter. Its about the right pick and the OL is such a need - that in whatever way - within those first 100 players (so five draft picks for the Chargers through the top of Round 4) - they need two starters for the OL.

Zack Martin placed on the IR a couple days ago and the whole DAL OL is hurt. Go Bungles!

5th or 4th it doesn't really matter. Find the right partner and trade down for more 1st and 2nd rd picks. 5 players in first 130 picks should really help this roster. We need LB, OT, OC WR and Edge.

well right now, the Chargers do have 5 picks actually in the top 110 or so since they are picking top 6 of the 4th round: 1st three rounds, some comps at the end of 3 and the first part of R4
1st, 2nd,, two thirds and the top of the 4

But yes, if they can get one more pick in the 2nd or 3rd
and maybe somehow in a draft day trade - take those 6ths and move into the 5th or the 5th and get another 4th
                    (e,g of a trade: chargers send out 1 and 6 and get back 1, 2 and 5)
so in theory 7 picks through 4 rounds, that would be ideal

Hopefully the bungles DC doesn’t pull a Gregg Williams... up 4 points with 13 secs left and calls a cover 0 :shifty:

I think the big thing is what will the cap be next year. Thats why having at least 9 draft picks is pretty important because except for 1st rounders, the rest are pretty cheap players. Telesco needs to nail them though. Or the GM

There are three players where decisions for the cap need to be made
                        Turner
                        Mike Williams
                        Casey Hayward

overdrafting and trading up does matter.... it dilutes the talent on you roster over time, and yes.... 'tis better to get a good player than no player/a bust, but a great (when drafting top ten) or very good player (early on/rounds) is the aim, and which ensures your talent level (and depth) does not fall off.
