Not as bad as McKitty, but this is what we were laughing at the Raiders for doing.

We just blew the third round when we could have fortified the OL or DL or even added another secondary player like Melifonwu or taken Perkins. There was so much we could have done and the third round just fell flat for us.

That TE will play alot...... he has serious skills..... Georgia had no clue what they had..... he was great at FSU..... and Palmer is way better than the Ohio State receiver we drafted last year..... he will also play alot especially if we get any injuries to KA or Williams.....

Sure, no objection to McKitty in round 6. There he represents a good potential value pick. Here, in round 3, we just wasted draft capital on a round 6 player.

I'm w/those dubious about the McKitty pick. Sure, it's great to have solid blocking tight ends, but that's not good value in round 3. (even if it is 34th pick in round 3)

Would have preferred Meinerz or Molden.

Surprised and disappointed, after such a strong start in first two rounds.

I would have preferred pretty much anything else than what we did. I'll give Palmer a chance but I don't think he would have gone in the next 20 picks. McKitty does nothing for me. Good value was there at 77 and, bleh.

Hey, I would be delighted to be wrong about Palmer and McKitty, but they look like reaches to me, especially McKitty.

I honestly don't see that big of a difference between Palmer and Tremble. Just so happens one is mocked to the third and the other the fifth. Palmer seemed like a round early but some mocks were kinder because of his QB.

The Sporting News has McKitty ranked as the No. 6 TE, and he was the 5th one drafted, so he may not be as much of a reach as you think. The only TE ranked in the top 100 that didn't get drafted in the first two days is Brevin Jordan, who is a bit small for TE in the NFL at 6-3 245. Once you see McKitty play you change your mind about him being a dubious pick.

                    One pundit's opinion:

                    Josh Palmer WR, TENN

                    Height: 6-2, Weight: 210

This is a starting, No. 2 receiver in the NFL. production hurt by bad QB play at Tennessee. Sudden off the line, runs crisp routes. Deceptively fast and tracks it well downfield. Herbert needed another weapon. (Chris Trapasso)
                    A

                    Tre' McKitty TE, UGA

                    Height: 6-5, Weight: 245

One of the best in-line blockers in the class. Will help the run game and flashed seam-stretching ability along with ability to catch the ball outside his frame. Just a low-volume receiver type. (Chris Trapasso)

NFL.com had McKitty ranked as TE14. TEs 5-13 have yet to be drafted.

His NFL.com prospect score has him as a back end of the roster or practice squad type player. That kind of player is okay in rounds 6-7, but not in round 3.

Outside of the 1st round most of these draft sites rankings are somewhat meaningless this year. One will have a guy at 41 and another has him at 135. Hell, even some of the 1st rounders were waaay off.

With limited games, limited tape, fewer workouts and guys sitting out, Im not sure how any consensus could be made on most of the day 2-3 guys.

Do you mean McKitty and Temble? McKitty is ranked TE14 by NFL.com. TEs 5-13 have yet to be drafted.
