To be fair to his friends here, he has improved his blocking since we first signed him and he's not horrible. He's just not a Harbaugh blocking TE.

I absolutely do not think this means Bowers is off the table. We will draft a OC at some point as well. Some think 2nd round, some think 4th round. Seen some still think we pick JPJ in round 1 if we get pick 23.

I think we would draft Bowers before a WR at 5 or 11. Just do.
I am having a real hard time seeing Parham or Smartt as a fit for us.
They are under contract and are cheap.
Meanwhile there are all kinds of TE visits happening.
I could certainly live with Bowers.
      We play modern Harball.

I know I honestly didn't expect that they see Hurst as Coach described him.
If they see Hurst like that then in order to draft Bowers, they would have to believe he's a Gold Jacket guy day #1.
And Harbaugh thinks JJ is the best QB in this draft. And Corum is the best RB and Wilson is the best WR, etc, etc…
Coaches are going to talk up their players this time of year. Just looking at Hurst output the last few years says he’s a one year rental who knows this system and can be a leader in the Locker room. I guess we read what we want to hear sometimes….

I broke up with the 3 hottest gals I ever dated, current Mrs DMAC excluded of course, because they were PITAs.

Or not - who knows: Maybe its just liars month, maybe they see Odunze as a better team fit and addition even if Nabers is a better "receiver" (aka the second prettiest girl scenario), maybe they're trying to reverse-juju on AZ to get them to take Nabers instead of MHJ, ... or maybe they aren't taking any receiver at all at 5 and are just trying to fluff up the value of that pick5 for trade scenario competition?

we should just guess which it is and claim it as fact. its the TPB way. "Joe always does this, ... Joe always does that ..." has already crept back into this thread despite the fact he's never made a single pick or trade in his life after all
so the early WR is the hot girl in this scenario?

I still wish they'd take Bowers with their pick, I just can see what a great player he is and what a great combo - I can almost hear Money saying - Herbert to Bowers again! They just can't stop it!

But, looking at the talk about how much Jim Harbaugh loves a great OL, I'm expecting the pick to be Alt. That's something we can get behind too - we'd have the best pair of OTs in the league.

The TE position has been disregarded and devalued by the Chargers for a long long time....and this has affected fans who have grown used to having almost zero production from the TE position.... which is really sad....

in the days of Gates and Winslow, when there were critical 3rd downs, we(and defenses) all knew the ball was going their way and most likely it was complete for a first down or TD....
just like KC and kelsey today.....

the top 4 TE's in the NFL were in the championship round!......

most of the last several or more SB's have been won by a team with great QB and great TE with no great diva WR's.....

last great WR to win a SB was probably Rice..... even Denver won SB's without great WR's but great QB and great TE...Sharp....

all the bad teams that draft great WR's high (like top 5) never win the big one... same is true for those who draft the top RB's.....

this is because in playoffs, you are playing teams that at least hafe a good enough defense to stop the run or take away one star WR..... and WR's take longer to get open than great TE's....

if you have a running game, a great TE keeps your drives alive so you can keep pounding the ball.....

Bowers is the best pass catcher in this draft after MHJ.... and both are generational....

Unlike moist great receiving TE's, Bowers is great as a RB/FB and is a very good blocker which is t=really rare

Parham has some talent but cannot block and cannot show up every week!!!.... last years TE's had almost zero impact on our games...they either dropped passes or were injured and could not play....

Chargers will be using 2 TE's most of the time...... with ONE or 2 WR's.... Bowers would be the best most impactful playmaker we could add to this team....

Chiefs and NE hav e proven you dont need number one WR's....if your have a great QB and great TE..... and Bowers has highest floor of any player in this draft and he might be best TE prospect in NFL history! ...based on many experts..... and remember, Harbaugh tri9ed really hard to recruit him because he was the ideal harbaugh type TE.....

I've hear that Reid would love to trade up for hm because kelsey is close to retirement..... and Reid understands that teams cannot afford a Diva WR past 4 years

If we draft Nabers, he will be under contract for 5 years but we will be forced to trade him away after 4 because he will demand 30-40 million per year in his second contract......

TE's.... even the top TE makes a fraction of that.....

You could say that the same is true about Ohio State, but Telesco also drafted 3 Buckeyes.

Once established in Southern Ca., Domers were replaced with USC / UCLA guys .

Zero players from Alabama, after Fluker.
Or scouting department, and Telesco sucked at talent evaluations. Just seemed lazy.
Maybe TT will now draft a guy or two from UNLV.

                      Yes I did!

Summary for those that haven't listened to it yet...

Dissly is 1 of 3 NFL TE's that can block the B-Gap.
Hayden Hurst is good enough to finish in the Top-6 TE's.
Mason Cole is an "F" (Fullback/ H-Back/TE) and one of the most physical guys Bischoff has ever been around.
Oh... and this is an OL-Centric team.

                      Protect the QB
                      Run the ball
                      Play great defense

I just can’t see Alt being the pick because he’s an LT that will need to learn how to play RT. Best thing is moving down and getting an actual RT prospect.
