Great receiver, power runner, great blocker, and kick ass tough!... and fills a massive need Chargers have had since Gates..... KC and NE have proven that a great QB with a great TE can win championships without great WR's..... we have a great QB we need to give him a great TE.... this draft is vewry deep in good to great WR's.....
That's some strong Kool-aid. There is no way he can play FB, RB, or non-slot WR. Blocking is probably his weakest area and he's undersized. He is not Gronk.

You can also argue that Rams, Bucs, Bengals, Eagles have all shown recently you don't need an elite TE to make the SB and instead would rather have an elite WR.

Overall most SB teams had at least 1 elite pass catcher, but it can be a WR or TE.

You forgot great coaches to the great QB and TE. Reid and Belichick are two of the best ever.

I'd absolutely love to have Bowers, but really would feel better about it if we could trade down and get him.

Are we talking about his time with the Chargers or his time at TCU. What I heard with the Chargers was that he wasn’t working like Josh Palmer did.

As to TCU, here’s what I would say. I’m a surgeon in Tarrant County (the county where TCU is located). I’m a private practice surgeon who has TCU medical students that rotate with me. One of my students was also a TCU undergrad before med school who was the TCU training staff and worked with and personally knew QJ. She loves him. When I ragged on him she quickly defended him. When I came back and attacked his lack of work ethic in that he wasn’t the sort of guy to come early or stay late, all she could do was shrug and concede that she couldn’t rebut my criticism.

Not only do I want extra compensation, I don’t want to pay Bowers #5 overall money. He’s a more valuable asset if we’re paying him as the 11th-14th pick than the #5 pick.

Look at Pitts. His production hasn’t justified the #4 overall pick. But compared to Chase who is on the cheaper contract, Chase is probably worth $15-25 million a year more than Pitts has been worth through three years.

When you look at the Chiefs, a big part of what makes them great is that a number of players are worth less than their contracts: Mahomes, Kelce, Karloftis, McDuffie, Rice, and Humphrey are a few that come to mind.

As great as Kelce is, Rashee Rice is better value relative to his contract. Kelce might command $20 million AAV whereas Rice would get $15 million AAV. When you look at their actual contracts, Rice is worth more relative to his actual contract.

The story of this draft will be the poker game that takes place re picks 2 thru 6.
                  We play modern Harball.

Just gonna say it: anti-Bowers. Think he maxed his potential in college. Effective in the pros? Yep, but not to the extent a first round pick is justified. So there.

BTW, QJ is not known for a string work ethic. There were never stories of him staying after practice as a rookie or during his time at TCU.

Harbaugh saw MH2 play great against him twice, so shouldn’t we then assume he’d really want him.
I'm sure he would like to have MHJ but he is not on the team QJ is and I wouldn't be surprised if he would prefer Bowers over MHJ.

Again, I'm not saying that you're wrong. I'm just saying that there were, in fact, pre-draft reports of QJ having a great work ethic. I read them.

But they out were there, erroneous though they evidently were.

There are some videos of him working out pretty hard during the offseason. I'm not worried about QJ he will be fine.
