We need someone that will come in with the following:

    command instant respect
    develop young qb
have modern concepts and be flexible
a name that attracts free agents and is respected by players
draws attention in LA market which justifies him making more than who they have had lately
fire up weak chargers fan base
    PROVEN WINNER

    Urban Meyer

I might be inclined to give Allen another crack at it - thats a good name right there
      I like that one!
why are we so inclined to select a guy that has already proven he can't bring home the bacon.... why not hire someone who is yet to prove whether they can or not ?? in theory, @least you have the chance that they might run the table ??

I like it - if going the college head coach path. I mean - he would do a lot of the things you mention
Has proven track record of success from Utah to Florida to THEEEEEEE Ohio State University

(but if Tommy T is making the choice - go to South Bend)

Al Saunders - sucked offensive side first time
Gilbride - sucked offensive side first time
Mike McCoy - sucked Offensive side first time
Mike Riley - granted he was a head coach

There is a pattern with theChargers -a person on their second job should be better prepared than their first job. Who knows - maybe a first time works but Arthur Smith, Matt Eberflus or Joe Brady - not going to cut it for me.

That tree has a lot of dead branches for sure, but Flores and Vrabel have promise.

I voted 'Other'. The Chargers should take a look at Jason Garrett.

Gilbride.... quite possibly the worst ever, as don't think he gets enough credit for personally derailing the career of Ryan Leaf.

think the HC is a little like the US Prez.... you don't want a Michael Dukakis type @the helm, aka don't think you necessarily want an Xs & Os guy @the helm, as its better to have the guy @HC that has the personna that can hold the locker room and carry the day, no matter what character issues might surface.

part of that equation (me thinx), is that the tone is set by ownership, and part of the reason why I'd like to see our FO bring in a bigger name (or two) to help out team Tommy John.

the two names I've got are Daniel Jeremiah and John Dorsey, and.... am sure there are others, just not overly familiar w/that next level of football peoples.

The US Prez can do virtually nothing if congress is the opposite party as himself. Way different than a HC.

After yet another week of poor ST play and Lynn isn't replacing Stewart,

I'm ready to think about a new HC. Urban Meyer would be my choice if he's interested - if not, I like Martys kid, he has that offense in Seattle humming and I think he has a good mentor up there and he must have learned a lot from Marty
                        THE YEAR OF THE FLIP!

Hopefully he doesn’t have a grudge against the Spanni for canning his dad.
