The Bears cut Slauson because he wasn't "athletic enough," meaning I guess they wanted a good pulling guard in their ground game. At center, Slauson wasn't asked to pull very much if at all, so he was at least serviceable. Moving him to G exposed his weaknesses...

Slauson did better at center. But then Lynn came in and messed with it. This was when I knew Lynn was questionable as a head coach. Lynn had Slauson in New York with the Jets, where Slauson played guard. Slauson should have been kept at center. Lynn didn't account for the success the team had in the previous season with him there, and messed with what was working.

Gordon went to the pro bowl in 2016 with Slauson at center. He didn't in 2017 with Pulley as the center. Then Gordon went to the pro bowl again when Pouncey was the center.

Yep...Lynn was probably so anxious to ramp up the ground game, he pulled Slauson off center to G...then put in an UDFA in Pulley at starting C...what a mess...

I will say this about both Anthony Lynn and Mike McCoy - they were good men who worked hard
