Rebuilding the OL is an every year project. Realistically, you can get about 5 years average out of these guys.
Now, if you excuse me, I have some Charger memories to suppress.

This is totally true. We've neglected drafting the OL for too long. We're likely going to bed a guard and RT next off-season. Hopefully, Fieler plays well and Jaimes is ready to start, but we'll still need depth and even a talent upgrade might not hurt.

Yes it is an ongoing project. I meant short term wise, we were not going to get an elite OL this year. If we’re lucky, we’ll get an average OL and that will still be a set up from last year. And hoping that will be enough to compete for a championship this season.

22% of non-ST starters are OL. Just investing proportionally that's a first or second day pick every year.

Lamp and Feeney sucking didn't help.

I had such high hopes for them too, especially Lamp.

Me too. Lamp's switch never turned on.

                He couldn't reach the switch.

It’s becoming increasingly popular for top drafted tackles to make a positive impact right away in their rookie seasons. For example just last season, Tristan Wirfs, Mekhi Becton, Jedrick Wills all played very well in their rookie seasons.

This should bode well for Slater.
Tom Telesco’s Results in 9 years as Chargers GM:

                  - 69-74 record
                  - 0 division titles in 9 yrs as GM
                  - Worst record among all active GMs with same tenure
                  - 6th worst winning percentage among all active GMs overall
                  - 2 playoff wins despite elite QB all 9 yrs
                  - Team still has the same weaknesses (Oline and run defense) that it had when hired as GM in 2013
                  - Consistently puts together horrible depth, expects starters to never miss games

And the highest OT picked Andrew Thomas... Oh wait...

You need talented players in OL (Slater) not small sql projects (Pipkins) but you need good OL coaches (eg Dante Scarnecchia) who can coach up avarage players and gel whole units.
So far we know we have some talent on OL (at least) but coaching is one huge question mark - some of ours backups looks worse than last year's.

It is THE only part of roster that makes me nervous this year... OL... hopes every year for better play and then it always suck, injuries and free agemts from the street plug in to extinguish fires...

I have hopes but I am very very careful this year - based on experience and inability of TT to build OL.

Slater and Jaimes both look promising and as advertised. That's all you can hope for this early in their careers. Speaking of needs looks like we'll need another RT because Pipkens is finished as player in this league.
