Justin's not your typical NFL player in that regard. I don't think money will be as important to him as loyalty - he's just wired that way. He can get out if he really wants to - a holdout would create a firestorm of interest from other teams, and enormous pressure on the franchise. Unfortunately (for him) I don't see any way that he would do such a thing - he's too nice, too team oriented, and loyal to a fault.

Unless the team is sold he has a very good chance of ending up as the next Philip Rivers.

Like 4 million bucks? It’s just business as usual for the spanos, they wanted the move to LA to increase the value of the club, they are NFL investors not owners, they’ve proven that they don’t actually intend to compete during herbert’s tenure by keeping BS around…

too fucking bad the sister wasn’t able to force a sale, fucking tragic…
Staley is here to stay. Until the Spanos decide otherwise. If you don't believe in Staley that's fine. But to act like he's a nobody is trash. People thought this team could make a run in the playoffs. So it's disgusting how people want to bitch and complain about the organization's leaders now that things didn't fare well.

based on what? citation needed for this. He is playing for his favorite team growing up, he's as familiar with the way things re being a student of the game. Could just as easily say he will easily sign his extension.

Horseshit. He wasn’t some dark horse candidate. He was the favorite. Overachieving is the sign of a good coach

it should be noted that herbert is literally living out his dream, he wanted to play for the chargers (reminiscent of seau) and he’s getting to do that right now, it wouldn’t even surprise me if the kid gives dean a discount on condition that they spend the money on his supporting cast…there is no one more motivated to win a championship for the bolts, NOBODY! Plus it’s in his ethnic heritage/genes to be loyal…herbert will never ask for a trade, EVER…I can only hope that by some miracle herbert’s career outlasts the spanos era…

How many QBs actually hold out? Rarely happens, and even less with franchise type QBs.

He doesn’t. Amazingly enough, there actually are people with different opinions that others.

Based on almost every word that comes out of his mouth. He is uncomfortable with individual praise and will always switch out 'me' with 'team' when given the opportunity. He is loyal to a fault to the team, players and coaches.

Given his personality there's no way I see that he demands absolute top dollar for his new contract (re-setting the QB market), no way that he puts himself above the team and creates a distraction. His lifestyle is not one of excess - the money will be less important (to him) than it would be to the bulk of NFL players. He'll get paid a huge amount - no question, and that will be good enough for him. In fact, as Fouts2herbert notes, I think it's highly likely that he accepts a lesser amount to enable other players to be paid. It's just the way he is.
