I've found the secret is to average out QSmokey and Sonorajim for the sweet spot!!

Tranquil’s regard of getting a ring with the Chargers…very poor. The fact that the Chiefs deal is only for one year and for less money than he could have gotten elsewhere and the fact that he will be playing off the bench speaks volumes of how he regards the Chargers organization and how much he regards his chances of getting a ring with the Chiefs.

I wish Dru well. I don't care he went to KC. He is a FA - his choice.
Kendericks is better than Dru Tranquill in coverage. Kendricks is all around better.

I tend to agree with this. Also - what do the players earn for participating in the playoffs? I know they get extra money from the league - is it substantial (by NFL standards)?

Maybe he got his feelings hurt by the Kendricks signing? Maybe he wants a shot at winning a championship? Maybe the culture here wasn't enough? Maybe he likes the tax rates in Kansas better??:lol::lol:

He's a good player - but was also a problem for our run D. I expect him to be a 3rd and long specialist with KC.
I agree. KC has three starting linebackers ahead of him. Bolton and Gay are very good. Chenal is a run stopper. I think he will be covering TE and hybrid pass rush.

From KC Site: While few had linebacker on the list of Kansas City’s needs, the 27-year-old continues general manager Brett Veach’s free agency pattern of acquiring young talent with ascending trajectories.

Tranquill will join a linebacking crew that includes Nick Bolton, Willie Gay Jr., and Leo Chenal. He adds a pass coverage pedigree to Kansas City’s linebacker rotation, possibly making him a candidate for a dime linebacker role defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo generally has preferred to designate.

                Spagnuolo obviously values LBs

Chiefs signed S Mike Edwards, formerly of the Bucs, to a one-year, $3 million contract.

The Chiefs let safety Juan Thornhill walk in free agency but have already found his replacement in Edwards. The former Buc is coming off the best year of his career. He took over a starting role in 2022 and totaled 82 tackles, two interceptions, and three pass breakups while playing in 13 games. The Chiefs haven't been making splashy signings this offseason, but they are continuing to fill their holes on both sides of the ball without breaking the bank. This extremely cheap signing for a solid start on defense is another feather in the cap of general manager Brett Veach

How does signing a contract with the Chiefs over other teams that supposedly were interested in him say anything about the Chargers?

Up to 5 mil. Means he has to hit incentives.

                      Didn't we offer him more?

                          His base is 3 million.

Pretty much the same thing that happened to Orlando Brown. According to the san diego beat writer, they really wanted Tranquil back and offered him $~6m a year on a multi-year deal. But he wanted $9m. They said no and signed Eric Kendricks. Tranquil didn't get what he was looking for from anyone else and signed this as a 1 year prove it deal. Only bad thing is it's only a 1 year deal.
