I listened to Staley’s press conference. Still like his approach and what he says. Do want to see it translate on the defensive side. He thinks the run defense was poor because of execution and taking the wrong angles. Didn’t say that they got mauled at the line of scrimmage. I do think Tranquil needs more PT. Murray is on a short leash. He needs to show up this week.

Murray isn't the player I expected at all. So far. It's a long season.

Yep, Drew needs to see the field more. Not the best in coverage but brings some much needed energy to this defense. Still like to see more of Merrill.

So other teams can't sign those 4 to their 53 man rosters - I guess.

Players on practice squads can be seized or poached by other teams--provided that the new team assigns them to their 53 man roster, and maintains them there.

Recent rule changes have allowed a floating protection tag for teams to use with 4 players..."no touchy, you other vulture teams." For those 4, no more. Tags can be changed weekly.

He was our best LB last week by a wide margin. Should have played more snaps.

I'm leery of putting value in grades when there are such small sample sizes, esp. w/backups. But PFF sure likes him this season so far - better than Murray.

I pretty much agree with those. Murray was good week 1 but awful last week.

That's a good point. From what I saw in preseason I would be fine with Nieman in there if Murray is still a little wobbly or whatever.

I agree. I was really happy when they moved up to get him. He looked like a one-man wrecking ball in college, but he's disappointed me this year. However, he did play very well in the last 4/5 games last season so I'm guessing he's still adapting to the new defense.
