The Palmer, McKitty, Nieman, & Roundtree selections were all luxury picks.
They guy fiddles while the team burns.

EXACTLY!!! This isn't Lombardi's fault. Honestly can't understand people castigating Lombardi when he's doing all he can to keep Herbert standing. If Herbert went free-lance like much of last season he'd get killed. There was a lot of luck with Herbert's health last season. No doubt.

1. He could have dialed up more Herbie rollouts to buy more time
2. He could have used Ekkie or TE's more for pass pro, or at least chipping
3. With those extra seconds, he could have dialed up Guyton or Mike Will down the sideline on that go route...
4. Do all of the above and you force Fangio's zone D to cover deep and/or play more man to man D...This opens up the ground game and short pass game more...

Didn't help that we threw a INT in the EZ and another pick 6 that killed us. Though we were in trouble before that one. He had 3 others INTs that were dropped by the defense.
Just not s good day for Herbert.
We need OL,DL and CBs bad.
