    And it's not like there weren't any decent FA RB's available in the off-season for team-friendly deals...TT was hoping Kelley, JJ and Rountree would give Ekkie some help...he's still hoping...

      They weren't good enough. And Telesco has been here for years now and the special teams, RB, offensive line depth is not established.

        Don't talk to me about Lombardi when the Chargers are a TD and 2-pt conversion within being tied with the Chiefs in points for the season.

          Just not s good day for Herbert.

          We need OL,DL and CBs bad.
          Not Herberts fault when your playin behind TTs abomination of an O line.Simple as that.Dont matter whos behind that friggin trash line they aint gonna win ya a game.TT is and has always been the anti trencher.He has neglected or outright sucked at building lines on either side for most of his tenure.Slater was a pick my 12 yr old daughter could have made.TT sucks period.We do not have depth across the board and still after almost a decade have no D line and a patchwork O line and one good RB.

            And just imagine...we could have had Quinn Meinerz instead of McKitty...oh, and did u notice who was a starter on that solid Donk O-line, even with two backups? Yep, Meinerz...

I have not heard any rumors that TT is on the hot seat other than from a few vocal posters here. I still think that drafting Slater and Herbert along with hiring Staley gives him at least another year - if not more.
                I like the Jaimes selection, but the guy was never going to play much in year 1 learning a new position.
                They pretty much went into this year with no backups along the Oline.

                Planning for next year with the abysmal depth at Oline/corner, as if injuries never happen to these positions;
                so you replace Palmer for Williams, & McKitty for Cook.....that probably makes them a lesser team next year by itself;
                but Telesco has all that money that he can roll over to resign Herbert and add some coupon bargains in free agency:woot:

                He'll get another year, and then another, and then another.....when does he need to produce?

                If it doesn't happen next year under the guy, it will never happen.

                  Lombardi does not block or tackle. No blocking...no pass or run. No tackle. No defense.

                    IMHO, the key window year is 2022. This is Derwin's LAST year on his current deal, and who knows if he'll even sign with us again? He may be getting tired of being on a second-rate team that never seems to get enough decent players to turn our D into a solid force...if Derwin leaves, that leave a huge hole in our D...

                        If we were more balanced,
                        meaning run vs pass
                        and
                        solid Oline left and right side,
                        Lombardi would be deemed "smarter"
                        and Herbert more "elite."

                        Oline right side.
                        Oline depth, health.
                        RB #2.

                        Note that we are once again at the point in a given season where EK is chewed up some from overuse.
                        We do not play modern football.

                          Yep...we're getting diminishing returns...that's why u need a solid 3-RB committee...which we don't have...
