NFL reporter Jordan Schultz reports the Bengals, Chargers, 49ers, and Dolphins all have "legitimate interest" in free agent CB J.C. Jackson.


Cincinnati has multiple cornerbacks slated to hit free agency next week, and with Joe Burrow on his rookie contract, it makes sense for the up-and-coming to splurge on a top cover man. The Niners and Chargers also have big needs at the position, though the Dolphins already employ both Xavien Howard and Byron Jones. Jackson is going to get a big0time pay day next week.

Absolutely interested in Gilmore for a short term deal or easy out after 1.
I only see a few who figure to be better in the short term assuming Gilmore still has it.

Be nice if the Chargers get JC Jackson though - that would be a big time move by Telesco. I have no idea if he fits the system and Seattle might bring him back but DJ Reed could be a sleeper they go after.

You would think the Dolphins interest might mean a willingness to move Howard. I like both he and Jackson. Jackson is a solid press type....good open field tackler....run game is solid....and obviously a nose for the ball which is key in this Defense. We need a better takeaway game. Just a really good all around CB. BUt he wants Jalen money. He would cost us 20M per.

If JC Jackson is indeed a FA target, that means Nwosu and White probably wouldn't be re-signed. Nwosu is asking too much (10-13 million)... and there are some really good LB's in the 2nd and 3rd rounds.

1st: Best OT
2nd: LB Christian Harris (replaces White)
3rd: OLB Tyreke Smith (replaces Nwosu)

I'd be OK with that.

Thinking the Dolphins couldn't keep all 3 if signing Jackson so Howard or Jones would be dealt.
Would rather spend big on a corner and let Nwosu walk than match an offer over 8 or 9 per. Replace him with Karlaftis, Ojabo, or J Johnson at 17.
Try to replace White with a less expensive vet + late round pick and hope Murray, Niemann, and Ogbongbemiga take a step up.
Looking back now the Rumph and Niemann picks really make sense knowing Nwosu and White had 1 year left on their deals, like we mentioned often with the Palmer pick.

So Jackson fills the need at CB, even without White and Nwosu we have recent draft picks waiting, then there’s still the draft and BPA each round. I like it.

or lineup all safety and linebacker on the same yardline
w 2 cb up high on opposing sidelines
