Do you guys want to just roll with this beast thread into the season? Or do you want to start a brand new discussion right before week 1?

Telesco has to justify his pick with Tillery. Do people really think he'll be cut or not make the team? He would do better if Staley stops playing him the way he's been playing him. He isn't a slam to Gaziano. Gaziano looks like he'll make it. Covington is meh. He's another Ty McGill. Covington is another player who no longer has his juice after joining the Chargers.

The team is weak at interior pass rush. But many people disregard this, and they wonder why the team keeps being bad at getting off of the field. Like I was saying, Staley needs to stop playing him the way he's been playing him, and use Tillery at times when it is appropriate. Jerry Tillery is one of the only guys on the IDL who provides pass rush at the spot. Joseph-Day and Austin Johnson have some pass rushing, but they aren't great. Their pass rushing is the same as Justin Jones, and Justin Jones wasn't much of a pass rusher. The guys on the IDL of the team who are good at it are Fox, Tillery, and Gaziano. Having just 1 or 2 guys who are good at it isn't going to cut it or be enough. This has been proven time and time again with the team.
You say this like Tillery is some kinda pass rushing threat every passing down. He’s not. He’s the definition of replaceable.

Damion Square was a cheap, backup journeyman that the team always tried to replace and eventually did once they found someone better. He was a more complete player than Tillery who was supposed to be a starter. Not sure he is a good comparison really.

Tillery’s problems are twofold: he is a liability in the run game. He is just awful. And he is still awful after an entire year in the new system and he was awful playing the run against offensive lineman who are similar to what Square was as a defensive lineman (there is a useful Square reference(. I agree he does provide some interior pass rush, but it is extremely inconsistent. You just cannot count on him. His run play and inconsistent pass rush are why I think he needs to go. Covington and Gaziano are not superstars and are more like the Squares of the NFL, but they are better than Tillery.

Like, how am I a traitor? Your team are traitors.

Not sure if this was posted but with Murray's activation, G Hunt and K McCourt cut. Jax claiming McCourt.

IDL do both, play vs pass / run same as Edge if they're worth keeping. Not all are 50 /50 R / P but 0 / 50 Tillery is a waste of a roster spot. He's not good enough to justify a specialist.

I'm starting to suspect we plan to track the waiver wire for an RB2.

Not my first choice. More of a receiving back.
but he can run between the tackles.
