Poor dude...he waits for 2.5 games this season to catch his first pass...does so for a nice gainer, then gets hurt...oh well, Lombo was barely using him anyway...

      Yep, enter Reed or Bandy.

At this point, bringing in Brees to "help" Lombo is like bringing in an extra sailor to the boiler room of the Titanic to bail out those flooded rooms with a teaspoon...

I swear Lombo is calling plays using a bingo hopper with balls that have plays on them. No ryme or reason, no adjustments to what the D is doing just random plays that make no sense.

Brett Kolmann (YouTube football analyst) said a couple days ago that Herbert is phenomenal but it's the current roster construction on offense that is restricting Lombo (and, thus, Herbert) from going to the next level.

Maybe. But as with any team (and this goes for Staley on the defensive side of the ball) you need to make some adjustments.

I think Lombo is stuck on an offensive philosophy consisting mostly of short passes and ground game, to control the LOS and eat up the clock...not a bad idea if you can execute it consistently...unfortunately, we can't...and he keeps beating that horse repeatedly, and we end up with disasters like the Jags game...I'll guess that even if we didn't have any injuries, we still would have lost...

That is actually a real good video that those here that are constantly bitching, should watch it instead of just saying the things they say like Lombardi is a bad playcaller. There is a reason for what he does.
Take a look and get a little insight.

He starts to mention Lombardi around 5:55 but it's a good video to watch most of it.

This is bullshit. Everett should have been taken out of game in KC and there wouldn’t have been the turnover. Chargers would have won.

Secondly, Lombardi himself said he was too conservative in the second half of Raiders game.

Chargers should be 2-1 right now. The KC loss was on Coaching. Staley even took responsibility, taking a bullet for Lombardi.

What’s most disturbing is according to pressure rate he points out the new OL is worse in pass protect and can’t run block to save their lives.

Is that OL regression due to talent on the OL, coaching, or play calling. I’m leaning into coaching/play calling after seeing all those behind the LOS trick plays fail.

We have a new offensive line coach this season - I'd start right there for scrutiny.

                        Yes.

When Linsley went out, the OL blew up.

It would appear that Linsley’s on field coaching was the glue that strengthened the OL. The OL coaching staff are the keystone cops without Linsley.

Yesterday was a disaster from all angles. Play calling, injuries and the reffing. I can't say I can remember recently a game where the refs were so bad. The Jags tackles were commiting false starts on at least half of the passing plays. The facemask on Ekler that was not called, the Jags O line was holding like crazy yet it was only the Chargers being called for these. Lombo's stupid play calling made sure to stifle any momentum we had outside of one drive.
