I guess it was asked why not roll him out last week, and Popper was told the Raiders we're playing their DEs wide so they didn't like rolling Herbert out against that.
When they can do certain things against a defense, they do. They know moving Herbert out buys him time with this bad OL depth.

Herbert has been injured as well and it's amazing nobody cares about that,......business as usual...run the same plays while missing his WRs as well.

Yes he has seemingly been close to himself the last couple weeks but not weeks prior for which you are asking about.

      Yes. Yes.

But also, there have been some disasters on first possessions.

One theory I have heard is that first possession of the game is cold turkey.

First possession of the second half is with a bit of a feel for things.
We do not play modern football.

Yes, Herbert should play the stellar way he always has with cracked ribs, an offensive line missing 4 starters, a receving core of Michael Bandy, Jason Moore, Deandre Carter and the TE Rodgers and no running game and a defense that cannot stop anyone. What is wrong with Herbert? Why is he regressing? Hmmm
Like, how am I a traitor? Your team are traitors.

So should we expect most if not all upcoming opposing defenses to play their DEs wide?
          hope we have a counter.

What I've learned is that Herbert will give us a chance every year even when everything is falling apart.

Just watch against the titans. If the OL gets back pipkins, Lombardi is gonna go away from having Justin work outside the pocket, and it'll be stick routes and flat routes again. Lombardi does not understand that having justin roll out and use his legs a bit more is a strength, not just a cover up for a bad OL.

I didn't see the whole explanation if there was more elaboration to it, but they gave a reason.

But,.....Wouldn't you if it seems to be working? Then again not all defenses have two good DEs. We don't right now. You can't do the same things every week, other teams watch video as well.
                    And Miami plays a 3-4, Raiders don't.
They must have seen something on tape to be rolling to Phillips side since Sarell was so awful, and Herbert was able to avoid him a lot of the time.

Herbert seems to play with a lot more confidence when he has Linsley, Williams and Allen on the field. Other games he was timid/almost a little scared at times. Hard to blame him. But he looked like the old Justin against Miami, even with the lack of protection he was getting.
