Whiz was a better OC than Lombo

Staley cannot keep Lombo around next year if he wants Herbert to take his game to a new level. I have no idea who that OC is - I don't think its Day. But between the HC, the OC, the QB coach, Herbert and Telesco (finding a fast WR) - that is a goal this offseason

Whiz is a better OC, agree. TPB ran him out of town too so we should keep looking to find even better than Whiz. In the meantime, we’ll just go win with what we have.

Not certain why you feel that your 'research' vindicates a point of yours.
Those stats indicate that the Colts D was even worse on average than the Chargers D over the year,
and we all know how much the Charger D struggled up to 3 weeks ago.

Lombo was gifted 3 turnovers, and great field position all game long;
and they still couldn't do much.

If the O was simply a dead weight the first 20 minutes of the 2nd half, it would have been better;
They set up the Indy offense nicely in the 4rth quarter which could have turned that game into a nail biter.

If the D wasn't constantly bailing their asses out all game long, it would have been a loss.

Last season we whipped the Giants ass but they got 2 garbage time TDs and we won by I think 14. Posters complained that it was too close a score.

Yesterday we end up winning by 17 , the highest victory margin of the season but because we started slow with the OL not doing well and here we have again, people complaining.

I guess this place would be on par and feel better if we lost. We can then talk about firing everyone instead and focus solely on the draft. WTF.

And yet Critty predicted 50+

Most here would have been elated if they had sewn the game up with 21+, earlier in the 4rth quarter, so that they could rest players.
Given their field position, the gifted turnovers and 173 total yards by the opponent - it should have been attainable.

Aside from the lack of aesthetics, these grind-it-out wins, because the offense can't get off of their asses,
are physically taxing.

Well, hopefully Lombo surprises us.

Someone remarked that it will be tough sledding in the snow, because the opponents are pretty much locked on to what routes Charger receivers will run.

- Herbert has not thrown a TD in past 2 games (with KA and MW back).
- We have win with one team (all year) that currently has record over 0.500 - Dolphins at 8-7.

It is great that our defence plays better over past 3 games but please do not be fooled our defence will not stop Bills, KC or Cincy, we can slow them down but we will not stop them.

Therefore the only way for us to win in PO this year is to play great on Offensive end, at this moment I can't see anything (other than playing Baltimore 1st round) that would indicate we will do better than 1 and done.

At this time of the season we can only hope - Spes mater stultorum.

Here's a fun fact: every other AFCW team scored less than 20 and every other AFCW team actually needed more points up until the final whistle. Every other AFCW team lost to Indy, including KC.

I wouldn't expect Denver to do anything on offense this year. But it is impressive against the Chiefs and Raiders.

Though remember that the Colts had an active Kenny Moore at starting CB for those two games. We didn't even have to worry about Moore at all.

So whoever said the 40 thing, ya, crazy. But I do think our offense should not have struggled as mightily as it did. And continues to do each week, seemingly.

My names to replace Lombardi

Frank Reich - not sure he goes back to the Chargers and he will have offers

Jim Caldwell - worked well with Manning, went to Detroit with Stafford and I think with the Ravens for Flacco - so he has worked with many QBs. Granted not sure about his health

Kingsbury is getting fired and I don't trust him but might be better suited to be an OC than HC

When we beat the Titans they had a winnng record. We were both 7-6.
They don't now though, and likely won't since they lost Tannehill for the season.

Well its not like the Chargers score a lot on their opening drive - but its a legit question
I still prefer the ball at the half just in case
