haven't dug into the thread quite yet, and.... seems we need to ditch those uni's, and (speaking of ditching/unloading).... will be surprised if @least a coupla few of our pending FAs get anywhere close to resigned.

and was JC Jackson's injury related to the turf @all ??

and my apologies to the hard cores (as opposed to us just regular die hards , and as if I didn't know any better (and eye don't), sure seemed like coaching was a contributor to this game's outcome ??

Carroll has always been a pretty good personnel guy as well....

5/11 Fuaga, 37 Kamari Lassiter, 40 Sinnott, 67 Bralen Trice, 69 Cedric Gray, 105 Jaylen Wright, 110 Braelon Allen, 140 Joe Milton, 181 Khristian Boyd, Tylan Grable, 225 Daijun Edwards, 253 Miyan Williams

      Henderson-WR 4.3
      Shockey-TE 4.5
      Bush-RB 4.3
      Meachum-WR 4.3
They kept these speed players and added Sproles. Even though they never won the SB again. They were not a slow offensive roster even with their top WR being a possession type with avg speed.
Chargers are not a speedy roster like the SB winning Brees led Saints team were who easily had multiple 4.3 players on the field on offense at the same time.
Meachum was not much of a receiver - Norv didn't mind speed.
Easy to bring in a Meachem type player.

Ekeler has speed and is better than Bush,

Shockey ran a 4.58 combine 40 and spent his first 6 years on the giants:
Everett is faster than New Orlean's shockey.

So it basically comes down to Henderson,
whose production was comparable to Guyton's, save the super bowl year.

Carroll had us figured out from the jump. My guess is coaches dont really struggle with any of our play design or defensive shapes. I think our coaches think they are being really innovative...but teams are looking pretty well prepped against us. Of course if you cant do any of the basics well...block...tackle...execute...none of the X's and O's matter. Just wondering if Staley getting a HC job has given teams more desire to look at what he does. And to some extent have figured out his game. Because we should not be this bad on defense. Probably a wild take on my part...but he sure doesnt seem to have a working system in place that is consistent. The more he shows the more teams seem to be prepared. Where he could sort of hide as a DC and constantly tinker...he might be spreado so thin as a HC that the defense isnt evolving. He was all excited about having a hand on the offense when he got here. I cringed a little.

Also Im fairly certain had the score been flipped....Carroll likely pulls his starters given the fact so many have already been hurt. Sometimes you have to just admit defeat and move on.

Still get low key enraged when players are in when they shouldnt be. Management of our health is kind of a red flag to me. This continued wildfire sweeping across this team...if the game is lost 5 minutes to go....get the rest of your starters out of the fire.

I guess if all you care about is analytics....and have zero feel for the human aspect of the game...you will see dumb shit like this.

recall being a fan of Dave Toub once upon a time, and Steve Wilks is lookin' like a solid as well ?? is Ron Rivera any kind of consideration ?? and ok then, and if not.... then who ??

recall defending Brees when the dissidents descended upon him, as personally thought it was more that he didn't have decent enough receiver talent to get by, and.... he didn't.

think that's the major problem for Justin as well.... along w/his own injury concerns on top of all the wideout dispersements.

and after we were all so encouraged by the upgrades on both lines, and now.... still have difficulties stopping the run, and then again running the ball ourselves ??

team Tommy John, @least by appearances has a common denominator, and.... am sure they give their two cents and then some, and.... they seem content to largely defer to their HC on many if not most personnel decisions, and personally.... have seen very few, or @least very few franchises/orgs come to mind where that is a successful formula ??

what does come to mind are the many failures w/that formula.... our GM needs to be a talent sleuth/soothsayer, and cannot say that about TT, nor team Tommy John.

am also not on the Sean Payton train/bandwagon, as don't think his personality/intangibles are a fit for SoCal, and also don't think there is any guarantee that he wins in this town.

                        1. If you are in the same position as QB coach for 4-5 years, most definitely, you are NOT very good (otherwise you would have gotten the promotion)!

                        2. On one year occasion that you were promoted to a higher position in a new team, you did so badly that you were fired after a year (and came back to the old position in the old team)...

                        3. During that one year, you didn't maximize your QB talents. (As an OC, I believe maximizing the QB talents is#1 priority!)

Then Staley hired him, despite all these facts?!?

                        Go Bolts!!!

PS. I like our 2020 team passing offense a lot more than the 2021/2022 team...

We have lots of time to look at all this before taking the field again.

                          Here's some thoughts.

A lot of teams are essentially middle of the pack, and they will be there perpetually. It must not be forgotten that we have our championship level QB.

I would not be betting on Geno Smith, Daniel Jones, Tua Tagovailoa., or any of the myriad QBs inferior to Herbert, winning the Super Bowl this year.

The WR talk ignores the fact that Telesco was right there for Andre Reed-James Lofton-Thurman Thomas and Reggie Wayne-Marvin Harrison-Edgerrin James. Therefore Telesco has an acute understanding of the importance of weaponry. We have not seen much of MW-KA-EK yet in 2022.

Sean Payton would not be bringing an offense dissimilar to Joe Lombardi's. He would demand better execution. Ex-Saints talk about how Payton runs practices, expecting perfection and settling for nothing less.

Our problems remain: health, coaching experience, and basic football, ie blocking and tackling.
We do not play modern football.
