-Because they're far better than any team we have played thus far?
    - Or you have inside knowledge that Herbert us going is hold the ball repeatedly so he can try to throw deep over snail WRs who are clustered just beyond 10 yds?

Maybe the GM should just call the NFL and say we surrender? Norton started all season long last year. Herbert lived through it and even had a very good year. Don't be so quick to write the game off. We're in the middle of our long winning streak!

Yes. #1 run defense, #1 scoring defense.

Inside knowledge of what happens when Storm Norton or an injured Pipkins plays at RT? Why would I need inside knowledge of something we’ve all already witnessed?

Just looking out for our long term investment.

Norton at RT = submarine with a screen door.

What is the record of this team about to steamroll the Chargers? 7 & 1? 6 & 2?

Oh! 4 & 4 with two victories over the Lambs, and one over the Pussycats.

Good thing the Chargers don't play in the SEC. Some here would give them no chance against Alabama or Georgia.

Yes, should probably just forfeit because the oddsmakers and Steve Young don’t like us. Save any more injuries and take another bye week to get ready for the Chiefs.

If Pipkins doesn’t go it seems more likely that Foster Sarrell will start at RT. Better? Worse? Let’s not chance it

Niners have been devastated by injuries this season. Very similarly to ours in fact. Lose their top-of-the-league left tackle. Lose their Bosa. Their WR1 goes down with hamstring.

Unfortunate difference is their players are revved up and coming back healthy now while all of our corresponding injuries are longer term, if not season wide. They're coming off their bye finally healthy, we came off our bye last week somehow more injured than when we entered it.

Not that the Niners are insurmountable or anything. But like everything about the league, their record is context sensitive. They're going to be as healthy as they have been this season, we... aren't as lucky.

Niners are missing Armstead and another starter on the Dline; plus, they are vulnerable at the backend.
Niner talk is worried that a cb thrust into a starting position will not hold up.

With no interior pass rush, Chargers can focus on taking Bosa out of the game and tee off on the niner secondary.
They should be able to run the football a bit too.

                  Charger D is another story;

if they get steamrolled in the running game and can't get to Garrapolo, hard to see how they can win.
McGlichey is having a tough year.

#1 run defense vs 17th avg run O. Ls to #1 Chi, #5 Atl, 22 Den, 23 KC
                    #1 scoring D vs avg 18.5 scoring O.
#9 pass defense vs avg 21 pass O. We're #4. The only other team Niners played that had above avg pass O, KC beat them.
They're down to #4 CB on one side as we speak,
We were a top passing offense w/ Storm last year. Admittedly he's a weak link but it's not like we haven't beaten good teams with him starting.
,,,and there's a wealth of experience doing it.

All the press late this week has been how the 49ers are so vastly superior to the Chargers and they are going to dominate the Bolts Sunday night. The Chargers don't have a chance. Maybe the 49ers' players start to believe it. Then you know what happens - trap game!

But, if the 49ers do dominate the Chargers tomorrow night, all the press next week will be about how the Chiefs are going roll over the Chargers, and if the Chiefs start to believe it, that could be the ultimate trap game for the Bolts to shock every body and win.

The single most exciting play I ever saw in person (from the west endzone at the Q) was Ronnie Harmon zig zagging from the 10 for a TD. He must have covered 50 yards to make it in!
