Here's a real report for you - The Chargers made a mistake to sign JCJ for that amount and they got next to nothing for it. Kind of like the David Boston deal.

So that probably is not the right use of funds. If the team is 6-2 after the Jets game - trading makes sense

It makes no sense to make any trade until after the Chiefs game... if the team is 2-4, don't waste assets stupidly trying to salvage something that further weakens the ability to build a better roster for Herbert long term.

If you beat the Chiefs, Cowboys, Jets and Bears, heck ,even 5-3 - maybe you make strategic trades

My guess it was probably more Staley and John Boy saw how many interceptions and thought "sure he can fit, what do you mean scheme. scheme meme. coach him up"
