He's in a similar position as to when Reid left Philly except instead of being the coach that couldn't win a ring he's the coach that "only won one Super Bowl."

He's similar to Reid in that both coaches have proven repeatedly that they know how to get good results out of their offensive personnel and have proven it for a long time. I don't think the same could be said on either side of the ball in regards to the Chargers.

as for the rebuilding thing, denver needs a RT and an interior lineman…there’s not much to rebuild, they already have a fairly complete team…

how wilson plays under payton is the big question and I think russell will re-dedicate himself this off season, he’s not going to dictate to payton like he did to hackett…I think payton is going to reign in all that “let russell cook” bullshit…
At 5-12 they were probably the most complete team in the NFL, just missing out by an eyelash from winning the SB.

I think the point is McCarthy is seen of as a coach only has a ring because he had Rodgers in his prime and has been nothing special since that time. You could make the same argument about Payton and Brees and only winning because of bounty-gate and being nothing special since then. He is a good coach, but by the same logic so is McCarthy.

          Broncos Traded

          Three first-round picks
          Three second-round picks

There won’t be any Broncos fans draft night parties in Denver for awhile.

If Payton is a FAST racecar driver....what is Russell Wilson as a "car?"

Herbert is a FAST CAR. JoLombo was a medium paced driver. MOORE is a FAST driver. You need BOTH (fast car, fast driver) to be successful.

I suspect the aging Russell W won't be able to move as fast at all at his declining age and skill set.

Laughing at the Broncos. They didn't learn from the Chargers's mistake

LOL. They have finished last in the AFC West for 3 straight seasons, behind Staley and Lynn coached Charger teams. They aren't that loaded. If Payton can get something out of Wilson that will help them a lot but Wilson will be 35 this season and has been sacked 531 times in his career, the most in the entire NFL over the past decade. He has a lot of wear and tear and does not look like the same player. It will be interesting to see what Payton can coax out of Wilson.

If after Brees left and the Saints somehow got Wilson, Payton would definitely have stepped back from football like he did.

We don't really know the talent level on the Broncos with certainty ...
they had subpar coaching and the talent level is probably much higher than what they showed last year.

Just heard an ex 49er saying that they got high draft picks, who turned into studs, they had no business getting under Mike Singletary.

People on talk shows still are saying the Chargers "are loaded, they just need to get their act together."
What do you think they mean by that?

That puts a damper on the party for sure.
                    For 2023, maybe.

Does the NFL cease to exist after that?

A good Broncos team is good for the Bolts. Maybe KC won't automatically win those two games every season now.

I don't like Payton (he seems like a slime ball to me) but he is a good coach, particularly offensively. The key is, how will Wilson react to his coaching? Seems Wilson was told for years how great he was and how nothing was ever his fault. How is he going to react to Payton when he tells him to do something he doesn't want to do? Also Payton is a Parcells guy, not a hugger. I am not sure how their relationship is going to work.

Like, how am I a traitor? Your team are traitors.

Or the talent was overrated and the coaching wasn't as bad as made out. Doesn't really matter now - it's what Payton does going forward. How long will it take to get players up to speed in the schemes they want to run? How long will it take to put players in place that are better fits for the scheme?
